THE Cooler Master Alternative
This is a Mid-ATX case. The body is solid, not flimsy like some of the Cooler Master chassis. Comes with 2 120mm fans, one blue front and 1 black rear. Super quiet. Option to mount 2 more 120mms on the side slide-off panel. Tool less drive bays. Comes with spare drive locks in the event one breaks. Ties for cabling and other clips to create a clean interior; hide those cables and wires. Did I mention the construction is solid? The case is a very attractive black that is coated to protect scratching the metal. This is a huge win for environments with high humidity (tropical etc). Cooler Master interiors have a nasty way of corroding since the inside is not protected against corrosion/rust). It causes grounding issues and kills motherboards over time (lost a Fatal1ty AN9 32x and Crosshair I ROG to this)The Vortex has 4 front USB 2.0 jacks, 1 eSATA jack and a HiDef audio jack. The power and reset switches are above the highest drive bay; no having to bend down to reach the power button anymore. As the listing mentions it does not come with a power supply. That is a good thing. You should never use a generic power supply, eventually it will kill your computer or worse literally catch fire (seen it happen). Power supplies are for another review, but I personally use and recommend either the Corsair family or OCZ family. Preferrably the 650w and ups for Corsair and the ModX 600w and up (modular cables) for OCZ. Neither uses more than 280w in my rig.One niggle I have with the case (thus the 4 stars) is as follows. The motherboard standoffs that come in the package are not standard size. They are an odd size that does not fit any north American mounting tool. The standoff screws are too FAT. I had to use a wrench to tighten them down.:o|I purchased 4 separate Red LED Coolermaster "sickle" type 120mms fans to complement my ASUS Crosshair IV Formula motherboard setup (which is red); so the blue and black are just spares now.Get this case if you want something above average quality for 1/2 the price of an Antec, Coolermaster, Thermaltake, Apevia, ASUS case.

Good for the money.
All good, if you're not a gamer and would rather not have to live with the bulk of those super-tall towers. The only hitch I had (you may not even come up against it), is when I tried to install a Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO cpu fan/cooler; The sliding side-cover has a grip that's a simple indentation, or depression, on the outside, to allow your thumb to grab it and slide it out. Well, that sticks out enough on the inside of the case, to bump against that cooler, so I had to gently hit it with a hammer from the inside to "bump it out" - again, that's just my particular setup, not a reflection on the product or the manufacturer (I was not about to buy another case to accommodate the cooler). Easy mounting of HDDs and DVD drives.I had no use for a led-illuminated case-fan in the front, wish I could eliminate that led, but when I needed to reverse the fan, I was able to do it quite easily.Since initial build, I replace the cpu cooler with a Corsair Hydro Series H80i - it's a bit of a tricky installation, but it fits just nice (hint: place the cooler's fans/radiator assembly where the case's rear fan goes, in the rear of the case, and you have a good chance of not having the hoses kink).

the second time was the charm
The first case that was sent had a problem with the power switch. We returned it and they sent a replacement pretty quickly. Excellent customer service through Amazon. The second one works just fine. I like that it has a flat top so I can keep my router on top. Also it has convenient access to usb ports and power button. I recommend it.

Excellent
The only possible improvement would be to add front USB 3.0 ports. It already has 4 front USB 2.0 ports. I have an ASRock MB which comes with a front USB 3.0 bezel accessory with 2 ports (fits in 3.5" external bay) so I have no problem. If you want front USB 3.0 ports, just add an USB 3.0 front bezel. Recommend this case to anyone. Plenty of room for drives and extra fans (includes front and rear fans but more can be added to side panel). The manufacture has great Customer Service. This is my 4th case.

so-so but was cheap.
Arrived with broken front bezel, box was damaged. I didn't have time to wait for another, so I just glued the bezel. I also don't like how you have to remove the front bezel to install any hard or optical drives. I was also expecting the case to have USB3.0, but it does not.
