Great razor for the money
This thing is actually pretty awesome. I was expecting a lot lower quality but I was surprised. It is not shave ready but if you expect a 40 dollar damascus straight razor on Amazon to arrive at your door sharp enough to shave the hair on your face, maybe this hobby isn't going to be your thing... Get some stones and hone it or send it out to be honed and you'll enjoy it for its intended purpose. Some of the inlays on the handle have started to lift out of the wood but I would contribute that to keeping it in a humid bathroom. I would suggest storing it elsewhere when not in use. The sheath is decent and the razor fits well in it. Again, it's a relatively low priced straight razor so it's not going to be perfect but you may be as surprised as I was.

beautiful knife, razor sharp out of the box
This is a beautiful razor,It comes kinda soaking in oil, a good sign for a Damascus blade. The razor itself is sharp enough to shave, would not recommend unless you have shaven with a straight razor b4,the beautiful handle (am I using beautiful 2 much? That's because this is a beautiful razor. The leather holster? Is hard an tightly holds the razor, another good sign.Excellent workmanship on the handle and the Damascus blade looks gorgeous.

A great knife to look at, not for shaving
First I will say this is an absolutely beautiful knife. The wooden handle is well constructed, the hinges are solid, the design on the blade looks great. That said, it doesnt work well for much more than a pocket knife. I have tried putting multiple angles on the blade in order for it to keep an edge for shaving. No matter the angle or how much time I spend, the blade will not hold an edge for more than a few minutes before it requires another pass over the stone. This is an awesome knife and worth the price, but not if you are looking to shave.

Heirloom Quality Product
This razor is beautiful and functional. It's so beautiful in fact, I'm hesitant to use it, but it is certainly sharp enough to do so. It's Damascus steel, so it may require more care than a stainless steel blade, but I think it will be well worth the effort. I can't give this product a higher endorsement.

Not for shaving
It is a pretty knife. The scales are beautiful if a bit thick and heavy. The blade is artistic in its finish, but thicker than most for a wedge-type blade. I say knife because that is about as good of a blade as it can be. It is too cumbersome for fine shaving, though that is not its biggest problem. The steel of this blade will not take an edge sharp enough to shave peach fuzz much less a heavy growth. When it arrived, it was just plain dull. No problem as the order page said it would need sharpening upon arrival, but I have almost worn out my whet stone trying to get an edge on this thing. I hone until my hand cramps and it still won't cut hair.If you want a razor to shave with, avoid this one. If you want a pretty addition to your collection that won't ever see a cheek, then go for it.

This razor is beautiful to look at and does the job.
When I shopped for a straight razor, I could have bought a much less expensive one with disposable blades. But this one has a beautiful Damascus steel blade that holds a great edge retained by regular stropping. If you're going to shave with a straight razor, you might as well shave with a work of art.

Good craftsmanship just couldn't shave with it
Good craftsmanship just couldn't shave with it? Had to shave hard and still wouldn't get a shave. That's all I got to say... By the way that shouldn't des courage you from making them, keep at it till gets to a razor....... .. I been reading this book by Napoleon Hills. Think and grow rich. Very good read, there's audio as well on YouTube if you have time, it may benefit you guys.
