Continuum: Season 4

Continuum was overall a great show. It was almost never dumbed-down like most movies and shows. It had a few imperfect moments, but most of the time it was smart and well-made. The acting was quite good, especially by the lead actress (Rachel Nichols) and the young actor that played as the younger version of a technical genius. There was necessarily a lot of sci-fi tech jargon that was dealt with in the best way possible. It glossed over things that could never be explained well as they were fantasy technology and yet did use some real science here and there to explain some things. The writers created a fantasy universe that had certain laws (that don't work in the real world) and stuck to them without constantly changing things on a whim to make that week's story easier to write. The actors, especially Erik Knudsen, dealt with the mumbo jumbo gracefully and allowed the story to work. The lead actress, Rachel Nichols, has probably the most expressive face of any actress I've seen. She would change from calm and exquisitely beautiful to contorted with grief and anger in one scene without cuts and without looking fake. The other actors pulled their weight with their own unusual characters and the action and special effects were done remarkably well for what was probably a low-budget show. To add to the good production, the action and combat sequences were as good or better than almost any I've seen. The characters seemed to fight as you would expect and didn't move slowly to play to the camera. Everything was fast and accurate and people even had to reload their guns. Some people didn't like the ending, but I think the final season wrapped up the characters story lines just as those characters lived on their most fundamental level. I didn't exactly see the final moments coming, but they made perfect sense and closed the show with beauty and sorrow. Good job, Canada!

Oh, wow! I loved this series and I finally picked up this last season and held off as long as I could to watch it because I wasn't happy it was ending - but then again most series nowadays don't last more than 3-5 seasons.No, everything did NOT end up tied up in a nice pretty little bow - but then again other than Six Foot Under - does any series tie up every loose end?? Not in my experience. I should have know... I really REALLY should have known how they were going to end this, the writing was on the wall and I just didn't see it - or I wouldn't allow myself to see it.Spoiler sorta alert - don't read any further, I'll try not to spoil it bad.It was there to see - how much she loved her son and wanted to see him again - but would he still be there, would she still have him when the timeline changed, if it did change? How would it play out? Would the world be destroyed? Better? The same? Would she still have been married and made the same choices as she did previously? How would that work with her going back to the future? HELLO!! Everything's changed - you KNOW there's going to be some kind of a kick in the butt!!

While I am sad and disappointed that CONTINUUM is ending this season I feel it is time for closure for our protagonist, Kiera Cameron. Kiera has continued to evolve throughout the four seasons and has learned to think for herself and not just be part of the futuristic and corrupt corporate police of 2077.It isn't often that a character continues to grow and learn throughout each season and that is one of the great aspects of this series. I have also loved the way the creators and writers have kept the continuity of time travel in check throughout the series. In a story-line where the complexity of various time lines could of have destroyed the plausibility of the plot, CONTINUUM has kept the paradoxes of traveling in time in check at all times.CONTINUUM "continues" to be one of the best made science fiction series of the 21st century. Science fiction television writers should look at this series as a blue print for creating intelligent, exciting and realistically complex series in the future.

This is one of the best sci-fi series of all time! That includes any Star Treks, Stargates & Bablyon 5. I rank it right up there with the greats. That said, it is *intense*. Once I started the series (bought the whole series at once, having never seen it before) I could not watch anything else until I completed it. In fact, I would say I watched every episode at least twice during the course of the series due to the amount of details and plot twists. I have been a sci-fi fan since I was a kid, reading Issac Asimov and Robert Heinlein. I watched the first episode of Star Trek in 1966. Also, I have always been a fan of Sherlock Holmes, Hercule Poirot and others of that genre. Continuum combines the best of both fields, to create a smorgasbord of intellectual deduction and police work with sci-fi gadgets and time travel. My only complaint is that it did not last any longer!

This is last season with only half of the episodes and fans are fortunate they decided to produce Season 4 instead of leaving us hanging at the end of Season 3. Continuum is a very good Sci-Fi series about a Law Enforcement Detective, Kiera Cameron, in the year 2077 who gets sent back in time with “Liber8” a radical group of anti-corporate activists, often described as terrorists, anarchists, revolutionaries, during their trial. A lot of future-past time travel series are hard to follow, but this one ties everything together that makes it easy to follow. Kiera finds herself in present day Vancouver, BC and blends in with local Law Enforcement to pursue Liber8. Her high tech multi-function uniform puts her in communication with teen computer genius Alec Sadler, someone who she finds out shapes the world to come. All episodes are seasoned well with action and drama making for an unforgettable TV series. If you haven’t seen this, try it and start from the beginning as it will be well worth it.

Excelente serie, llego en orden, todo 👍🏼

Après trois saisons de haute volée, voici venir la quatrième et dernière année de cette série de Science-Fiction Canadienne, qui a réussi à devenir l’égal de bons nombres de séries Américaines, grâce à son traitement intelligent, ses scénarios riches et subtiles, ainsi que des personnages complexes, toujours sur le fil du rasoir, qui ne sont jamais ce qu’ils semblent être.Le coffret est un Import Américain et non Italien, comme le veut l’intitulé d’Amazon. Le boitier plastique comprend les 6 épisodes, répartis sur 2 disques. L’image est de très bonne qualité, tandis que l’audio comporte seulement la Version Anglaise, avec des Sous-Titres présents en Anglais également. Je l’ai pris pour voir la série en VO avant tout, ce qui m’aide en plus à perfectionner mon anglais, le but est atteint. Il est à noter : qui dit Import USA, dit Zone 1 dans ce cas, il faudra donc un lecteur DVD multi-zones, afin de pouvoir visionner les disques.Keira Cameron, voit l’arrivée de soldats du futur immerger dans le présent, en 2014. Leur plan est simple, construire une machine de destruction, dans le but de déclencher une guerre. Afin d’empêcher cela à tout prix, Keira, aidée par Alec, se voit aussi contrainte de remettre ses propres choix en question et devra trouver des alliances difficiles, mais nécessaires. Dans un final rempli d’émotion, la série offre une conclusion digne pour chacun des personnages et offre ainsi une réponse aux deux questions principales que chaque fan se pose depuis le début : Keira réussit-elle à rentrer chez elle dans le futur, en retrouvant son mari et son fils ? Le futur de 2077 présenté comme un état policier et aux mains des grandes corporations économiques, a-t-il pu être modifié ?Il est dommage que la série n’ait pas eu droit à plus d’épisodes pour offrir sa conclusion, même si les six épisodes produits vont directement à l’essentiel, sans fioritures. L’aventure du voyage temporel de l’agent Keira se termine sur une note douce-amère pour le personnage, mais reste fidèle au thème majeur développé par les scénaristes depuis le début : l’action de quelques personnes peut-elle arriver à modifier ou améliorer le futur que l’on est en construire ?Nous voici en présence de l’une des meilleures séries de Science-Fiction actuelles, alternant brillamment les scènes situées dans le présent, à partir de 2012, ainsi que les scènes situées dans le futur, en 2077, qui présentent une société contrôlée par les multinationales. A notre époque, commence alors une lutte entre Keira, un agent de police et la faction Liber8, composée de terroristes responsables de la mort de milliers de personnes.Mais l’intelligence de la série, réside entre la différence de la présentation première et les réels enjeux de la bataille pour accéder à un futur meilleur. Au fur et à mesure des saisons, on s’aperçoit qu’il n’y a aucun gentil et aucun méchant, mais que tous les personnages convergent vers le gris, tant ils possèdent chacun de multiples facettes, auxquels chacun peut s’identifier. Ils deviennent d’ailleurs très liés les uns aux autres, autant dans les intrigues séparées que dans une intrigue globale qui s’étend de plus en plus.Les scénarios sont brillants, les scènes de combat sont remarquables, les effets spéciaux sont travaillés, le rythme est bien construit, l’émotion est palpable et l’intensité demeure. Une série ambitieuse qui atteint son but, celle de divertir les spectateurs, tout en offrant une réflexion sur notre société technologique actuelle et ses possibles dérives. Le tout servi par un excellent casting, où chaque acteur, Rachel NICHOLS en tête, réussit à transposer parfaitement les émotions et les dualités de leur personnage. Chapeau bas. A découvrir ou à revoir.

Incredible series. Well written and presented. The last season was only 6 episodes long and each episode was much more fast paced than the previous 3 seasons. However, there were no loose ends. The ending was perfect. The best ending to a series that I've ever seen. The entire series does an excellent job of discussing time travel, alternate timelines and discussing timeline paradoxes. I've watched it 3 times already.

I have thoroughly enjoyed this series from start to finish.Although there are only 5 episodes in the final season at least Mr Barry was able to answer some questions.The cast were really good especially Rachel in the lead.it could only have ended the way it did as timelines do alter no matter how much you try not to do.He wanted to complete another 3 seasons but alas, that did not happen.

Natürlich muss man SciFi mögen, natürlich gibt es kameratechnisch und auch schauspielerisch noch bessere SciFi Serien. Dennoch: Volle Punktzahl und ein ausgesprochen dickes Lob für die Serie. Da ist erstmal das Thema Zeitreisen in seiner extremen Komplexität. Da gehört einiges dazu sich nicht in alberne oder plumpe Widersprüche zu verzetteln, ganz nebenbei tatsächlich die Theorie der Parallelwelten zu thematisieren, anzureißen, grob zu erklären und das ohne abzudriften oder zu sehr zu theoretisieren. Hut ab! Diese letzte Staffel mit 6 Folgen auf 2 BluRays ist spannend sauber produziert mit teils liebevollen Details ist technisch völlig auf dem Stand der Zeit mit annehmbaren und durchaus akzeptablen Special Effects. Und das Beste, und das ist nun wirklich nicht ironisch gemeint: Diese Staffel 4 führt die Serie zu einem überzeugenden und befriedigenden (vieleicht nicht unbedingt für Heulsusen geeigneten) Schluss. Kein halbgarer Abbruch der Serie, kein unausgegorener Wirrwarr. Sauberer Schluss und fertig.WAS FÜR EINE FREUDE. Endlich mal wieder eine Serie mit großen Erzählbogen zuende erzählt. Und tatsächlich hat sich die Serie seit Staffel eins immer mehr zu echter SciFi entwickelt, weniger Krimi mehr Zeitreise, mehr innere Konflikte, mehr Charaktere, bessere Durchzeichnung und auch mehr soziale Bedeutung. Eine Serie die sich nach Genuss der ganzen Staffeln tatsächlich mit damit befasst wie sich eine "Ermittlerin" - quasi eine null acht fünfzehn Kommisarinnenvorlage - in Ihrer Weltanschauung entwickelt. Vo der treudoofen und von absolutistischen Ansprüchen getriebenen Handlangerin (ich bin GUT, ich habe immer Recht, ich bin das Gesetz) eines eher asozialen kapitalistisch faschistoid geprägten Systems zum aufgeweckten, selbstkritischen und auch kritischen Individuum. Tolles Metathema, anspruchsvoll und zeitkritisch. Verpackt in ein wenig Krimi, Terrorfahndung, Thriller und natürlich SciFi Zeitreise mit ausgefeilten Paradoxien. Allein schon Idee und der Mut und vor allem das Durchhaltevermögen die Serie bis zu einem Ende durchzuziehen verdienen 5 Sterne.Diese Lobhodelei musste erstmal sein. Die Schauspieler sind gut, nicht hervorragend. Einfach solide - das gilt auch für alles andere: Kamera, Musik, Schnitt usw. Und damit zum größten Manko:Von Continuum gibts keine vollständige deutsche Übersetzung. Nichtmal deutsch untertitelt. Ab Staffel 2 muss man sich mit Englisch anfreunden und die letzte Staffel 4 bietet dann auch nur noch englische Untertitel. Wobei das gesprochene Englisch in der Regel recht verständlich ist. Lag es daran, dass Contiuum in Deutschland ausgerechnet von RTL Crime und später dann von Vox gezeigt und "gekauft" worden war? Lag es daran, dass sich die Serie (obwohl Sie am Anfang so anmutet) nicht so billig und platt weiterentwickelte wie vermutet? RTL Crime, wie auch Vox stiegen nach Staffel 1 aus. Dass die Serie für ein eher Dokusoap- und reality-verhaftetes Format eher schwierig ist - nachvollziehbar. Continuum ist spätestens ab Staffel 2 kein dämliches Hit und Run Gedöns, die angeschnittenen Probleme haben mehr Substanz. Nach dem Ende von Staffel 4 stellt sich sogar die Frage, warum es Continuum nicht ins Nachtprogramm von arte geschafft hat, der zugrundeliegende philosophische Exkurs hätte es gerechtfertigt.Für alle die sich unschlüssig sind: Nur Mut, wer halbwegs englisch versteht und im Zweifelsfall englische Untertitel lesen kann (Verständlichkeit) sollte sich Continuum reinziehen und eine streckenweise nicht nur spannende, sondern auch mal ansatzweise anspruchsvolle sozialkritische SciFi Serie genießen. Klare Empfehlung.
