Orbit Tripod Brass Impact Sprinkler, Adjustable Height - 58308

This product has really worked well for my lawn. When we bought our house we quickly realized that there were NOT enough sprinklers for the lawn. I have been hand/sprinkler watering the dry patches for a few years now, and it is a full time job. I purchased two of these sprinklers with the hope that they would cover more ground than the sprinklers I had been using. I can honestly say that they not only covered more ground but they put out more water allowing me to not have to be moving sprinklers throughout the whole day. I use both of them at the same time. I start one at one end of the yard and the second one at the other end. There is a small learning curve to using the sprinkler, but once you have it, you are good to go!! (I have about one acre of lawn and I am on a well.)

I’ve had this thing for about five years now. I leave it outside. The kids knock it over, it’s a little quirky when I have to adjust it. But it works really well. And it works the same as the first day I bought it. I absolutely love it and I’m gonna buy another one so I don’t have to move the one I have now.

UPDATE: 10/15/2020:After 2 months, and 3 uses (and just past the Amazon Return date), a small tripod pin broke. That pin attaches the flat “horizontal” metal piece to the central axis “ring” - that then allows the legs to be spread out (to tripod status) or adduct (to storage status). That said, one call to Orbit and a remedy was immediately obtained. They certainly stand behind their product!>ORIGINAL REVIEW:This is a reasonably sturdy little unit that has a good feeling as you open or collapse the legs. Seems well build. I take care with it as I don't believe it was designed for rough or abusive treatment. Seems like if you treat it nice, it will last. I only get maybe 30-40 ft of throw with the water, but then I don't have the best water pressure in the village. I like how it works and sets up / adjusts better than any of my ground-based sprinklers. Stows away nicely. I am a bit concerned as to how the hose hooks up will hold up - so I plan on attaching a quick release system to it eventually. Got this after my die-hard Tractor model died. I wanted something different this time. Glad I got this. Would buy another if putting a second one on my water system would not cut my pressure by half! Good value for the money.

It took me 4 tries to get it to work, but it was worth the effort. At first, the sprinkler head didn't move at all and acted like there wasn't enough water pressure. I have decent water pressure so I tried it on another spigot and then with the screened washer removed, but still I only had a weak little stream. I tried again a few hours later. I double checked all the connections and it worked like a champ. The connection point between the stand and your garden hose is critical and by pulling the black connector completely flush, and tightening everything really well, that solved the problem.Be careful moving it around with a hose connected because that is the weakest part of the whole thing and once it is truly messed up, the whole thing is useless.On the good side, though, I love that I can change the angle and the height of the spray by adjusting the legs. Where have you been all my life? It is1000% better than a sprinkler that sits on the ground. Much more flexibility. The tripod base is heavy duty and for the average home owner, it provides more than enough coverage. I also love that you can just replace the sprinkler head if it breaks. I'm still looking for other sprinkler attachments. It would be nice if I could find a head that provided a steady mist to water small areas. All in all, worth the money.

I put this Orbit 58308Z TriPod brass Impact Sprinkler to work this morning for the first time. It is an excellent sprinkler and I get good range out of the distance of the water stream. A few adjustments need to be made however. As soon as I turned on my water, the sprinkler tipped over. I ended up getting 3 concrete 'steps' (12"x8"x2" and not very heavy) and used 3 bunji cords to attach the steps to the tripod ... problem solved. The trip pin was working good yesterday but today with the high pressure water that I have, it was knocked all askew and I'm unable to adjust the horizontal distance the sprinkler turns. Not a problem because I only need 360 degrees but kind of annoying that the dang sprinkler broke the first time I used it. I tried to turn the pin to get it straight again but I didn't want to apply too much pressure and end up busting it even more. Kind of ticks me off because I bought the brass unit specifically for reliability and longevity of the sprinkler ... and a .03 cent paper clip turned it to kaka the first day. It is still an excellent sprinkler with excellent range ... easily 45' from the sprinkler --- 90' diameter. I gave it 5 stars, regardless of the paper clip trip pin, because I will get good use out of the 360 degree unit.

This sprinkler failed inside the first 60 seconds. The swivel fitting where the hose screws on has no seal — no gasket, no washer, nothing — so water sprayed out of the joint the moment I turned the spigot on. The leak was severe enough that the sprinkler head didn't have the pressure to reverse direction; it just stalled at one end of its sweep, over and over.I tried wrapping the threads in PTFE tape. No improvement, because the leak isn't at the threads. It's at the swivel joint itself, which has no way to hold pressure as designed.If you're considering this, look at the hose connection before buying. It's the one part of a sprinkler that has to be watertight, and on this unit it isn't. Returned.

Works great. Easy set up and easy to move around the yard.

For me, the sprinkler lasted three years of VERY VERY light use. In the third year, the sprinkler will no longer reverse. It hits the stop and just stays at that point. You can see that it just isn't hitting hard enough to cause a reversal. I had hoped for something that would last a reasonable amount of time.If you read the reviews, this and a few other problems seem very common.

Great tripod, absolutely useless sprinkler - more water leaks out of the sprinkler body than actually sprays from the nozzle, so completely unfit for purpose. Was about to return in disgust when I had an accident and by the time I came out of hospital the return window had just closed!

We got 2 of these after so so many other failed attempts. We have a massive garden and we reseeded the lawn, watering it took us 4h/day/person it was unsustainable until we got this product. Works amazing! Powerful, robust and the radius is huge. All we had to do is to move them every now and then and we got our lives back :) highly recommended
