Are you kidding me!!!??? The Gel Blaster is LEGENDARY!!!
This product is a godsend! It's all the fun of paintball, water guns, airsoft riles and nerf...but optimized to give you the best of each! What an incredible concept and design. The cleanup is a non-factor unless you play in your house and then it's minimal and easy...yes, YOU CAN PLAY IN YOUR HOUSE!!! The impact is just enough to let you know you got hit but doesn't hurt a lick. And it's more powerful than a nerf gun, so you can actually get lit up and feel it (but again, without any bruises, welts or the like).I just bought the 4 pack for me and my kids (17, 14 and 13)...how much fun do you think we are going to have!??!?Thanks Gel Blaster for bringing a whole lotta Christmas fun in one package....y'all are the best!!

Better than airsoft!
The media could not be loaded. These things are sooo much fun!!!! They come with an attachment to slow them down for the younger kids, but once you take that thing off it shoots fast!! I saw another review that it felt like getting popped with a rubber band, and i can confirm! Call me a bad parent, but i bundled up my 6 year old and we went at it!

Great product with inconsistent models
I've decided to structure my (long) review in a Q&A format. Since alot of people won't be familiar with gell ball fighting I spend alot of time trying to give you a feel for it before diving into the Surge specifically. I am not affiliated with the Gell Blaster brand and all thoughts and opinions are my own. I have years of experience with paintball and nerf and have shot everything under the sun.How fun are they?So overall I think that this product is extremely exciting. I've played just about everything under the sun including paintball (which I love and this does not replace), airsoft (which I think is so-so and probably enjoy gell balls more), laser tag (which is just a real life video game, but still a fun time), nerf (which is nostalgic and modding is sick but involves a massive cleanup), and even archery tag (ie shooting bow and arrows at each other but the arrows have huge marshmallows on the ends to make it so it doesn't hurt too much). I'd say this ties modded nerf guns for fun but it has no cleanup and is totally fine to do indoors just vaccumm of sweep the next day. I still personally prefer paintball and archery tag but gell blasters are ideal to use with little kids bause they're stupid easy to use and they don't hurt that much unless your up pretty close (less than 10 feet).Safety?Safety glasses are a must for people who are playing but they're not dangerous enough (unlike paintball and airsoft) that everyone in effective range needs to worry about eye protection. So if dad wants to sit on the porch reading the paper while the kids are running around the backyard with these he shouldn't need safety glasses as long as the kids are responsible to not be jerks and shoot at him on purpose when he's not playing. Of course use at your own risk and with anything like this, error on the side of caution when unsure. What are gell balls like compared to other projectiles? As with anything there are pros and cons with gell balls compared to it's counterparts. I'd argue it has two characteristics that really set them apart from the competition: price and cleanup. These things are insanely cheap. They aren't reusable like nerf, but with how often nerf darts get lost and crushed I think you still end up spending way less on gell blaster ammo than nerf darts. Paintball is really expensive costing $50 for a box of 4,000. Compared to gell balls you can buy off brand refills at $20 for 100,000. This makes it ideal for use with birthday parties and use with alot of people. It's the only time I've not felt like I'm just throwing money away while shooting full auto for 5 minutes straight, which definitely makes these more fun. They do explode when they hit something but they don't leave a mark, which is good for ease of cleanup but bad for cheating. The biggest downside is definitely that they need to soak for two hours before use. But if your thinking ahead its not that big of a deal plus you can leave them in water basically indefinitely once they're up to size. There are also glow in the dark off brand gell balls available which when paired with a black light means tracers. Now I'm just going to go down the list and compare them to everything individually:Paintball: paintballs hurt way more but shoot further. Cheating is incredibly difficult as they leave bright wet marks. They definitely evoke alot more adrenaline. Safety is a much greater concern and a full face mask is required for anyone in effective range. Cleanup is bad but you can only use them in areas intended for it. It is the most expensive out of any of the alternatives.Airsoft: on average hurts about the same but shoots much further but can hurt more if hit in the right spot up close. Cheating is a big problem and people often don't even feel hits in the first place. Can shoot much more accurately due to hop up (although other brands of gell blasters for the Australian market have these features). I don't get much adrenaline from it but your mileage may vary (for me it's the same as gell blasters). Similar cleanup is bad as plastic bbs are left everywhere which takes ages to biodegrade but again your using these in areas dedicated for it. More expensive than gell blasters but probaly one of the cheaper projectiles to shoot on the list. Safety is a much greater concern and everyone in the effective range should have safety glasses on.Laser tag: shoots light. Doesn't hurt, no adrenaline, cleanup, still expensive (field entry price), and not as satisfying as anything else on the list. But still fun. Not something I'd do all the time.Nerf: high velocity nerf guns hurt about the same and shoot about the same distance. Can be used with and against gell blasters relatively fairly. These are must be picked up afterwards and are not biodegradable when used outside. They're alot less convie t than gell blasters are but are fun in their own right. Cheating is also a concern like airsoft and like gell blasters when shooting nerf guns over 100 fps (dart zone, rival, modded, ect.) Everyone playing should have safety glasses.Archery tag: Picture nerf but with legit bows. It's super sick. The ammo is extremely expensive but should last forever. Overall it is probably about the price of airsoft in the long run. It hurts alot more but this is because the projectiles are really heavy not because the velocity is fast. Cleanup isn't bad although it's not an indoor toy. Cheating isnt a problem because they hurt so much and they shoot so slow it's obvious when someone is hit (like dodgeball). Great adrenaline rush, really underrated. It's only good for older kids though as a little kid won't be able to pull the bow back repeatedly. Probably the most satisfying thing on this list and my favorite after paintball.Overall gell blasters greatest asset is convience. For performance think airsoft without hopup. They're pretty satisfying to use and are incredibly versitile. I'd be comfortable using them at a large public park if you can get away from people. They're the least expensive projectile to buy and have a fun effective range without leaving peke soar for a week afterwards.Let's talk the Surge. Ergonomics? The grip is extremely comfortable and should fit most hand types. There is a pictinny rail on the bottom of the blaster (the only thing I'd put on it would be a flashlight) a on/off switch on the back, a usb-c charger port on the bottom, and a removable hopper feedneck and unscrewable hopper on top. The green version (more on this below) has a fire mode button right by the on off switch which can be used to switch between semi automatic (one shot per trigger pull) and full auto (gun fires u till the trigger isnt pulled). The older orange version just has full auto and the fire mode button isn't present. The muzzle and front shroud piece can also be removed. The orange version comes with blue and orange muzzels and shrouds so different teams can have designated colored blasters. Unfortunately the green version only comes with a green shroud and muzzels. I planned on only running orange muzzles on all of mine to indicate it's a toy then changing out the shrouds to indicate team color. I'm very disappointed that the green version doesn't come with a mix of muzzels and shrouds and is part of why I removed a star. The green version has a velocity adjuster underneath the shroud. This is really cool but something I'm never gonna use. I'm just turning the velocities up on all mine and never touching again. If you have small kids who are scared to be hit up close, or want to make these safe without safety glasses, you can turn the velocity down to achieve this. If the slider is towards the back if the gun the velocity is the turned down (which is how they come out of the box) and if the slider is towards the muzzels the velocity is turned up. The orange version has now way to change the velocity although I saw far older versions came with a rubber piece that slid over the muzzels breaking the hell balls in flight lowering their velocity. It didn't seem to be very smart and the slider under the shroud is a much better system. I don't care much either way since I plan on using these with the velocity all the way up either way.One issue I have with the ergonomics is a lack of a good front grip. There is the bit that comes down but it's far too narrow to be comfortable. These are best used one handed. Beefing up that part that comes down would make the gun it less awkward to hold. This does contribute to the loss of a star but because the main grip is so good it's not a big deal. It is also hard to aim these for tho the area around the muzzels being thicker than the back of the gun. Again not a huge deal and I'd be alot more forgiveable if the green version came with different colored muzzels and shrouds. Interestingly there are electrical connectors behind the removable muzzels on both the green and orange versions. I'd bet this is for a future upgrade that puts a blacklight in the muzzel making this thing shoot tracer rounds. The overall package is an insanely small size given the performance here. 300 rounds, with one handed operation is amazing. It's incredible and a big part of what makes this so good for little kids. It is made out of plastic which feels good and is about on par with the current Nerf brand blasters. It doesn't feel cheap and should last. It is worth noting that the orange version comes with a rubber stopper for the usb-c port to prevent water damage while the green version does not. I don't use the one on the orange version anyways and I'm probably just going to loose it soon so I don't really miss it on the green ones. I'd give the ergonomics overall a 7/10 the three points off due to an insufficient front grip. There's just no good place to put your hand. I'm also mad the green one doesn't at least come with an orange muzzels and it really should come with different colored shrouds. That's a great feature that's missing. Everything is pretty well placed button-wise and it's comfortable enough for the majority of people but it isn't perfect (unfortunately). But how does it shoot?Overall wildly good for the price. The velocity is in the 150 fps ball park (for reference stock nerf brand blasters shoot around 70 fps and 300 fps is the standard for paintball). The accuracy is really great with these shooting about an 6 inch group at 30 feet. The rate of fire is advertised at a fantastically fun 8-10 balls per second (bps). For reference 10.5 bps is what speedball and professional paintball is played at. Now the orange version is right in that zone hitting right around 9 bps the green version shoots substantially slower (around 6 bps if I had to guess) on full auto and the semi auto is really clunky and only shoots around 4 bps. I'm really disappointed in this difference in performance and I wish they just stuck to the internals of the orange version. It also sounds a bit smoother when it shoots compared to the green version. The semi auto mode is basically useless. I would have liked instead to see a 3 or 5 round burst option. That would have been way cooler and fit the product much better. It's frustrating how whoever is using the orange gun will have an advantage over the green ones. This is one of those if it's not broken don't fix it moments and the discrepancy between the orange and green blasters in this area is a big reason why I'm mocking a star off. Please get the green blasters back to the same rate of fire as the orange version and switch out the dumb semi auto mode for something cool and unique like 2, 3 or 5 round burst. The difference in fire rate is really only a broblem if you have multiple versions of the blaster. At this point probably just stick to the green version so you don't have someone who's shoots faster although it is more fun shooting the orange version.Final thoughts?Overall this product has almost made nerf irrelevant. These are a better price to performance, don't jam like nerf guns, cheaper to use in the long run (rechargeable battery and insanely cheap off brand gell ball refills), and the cleanup is 10x easier and it is much more viable outside because the Gell balls shrink then biodegrade out of existence unlike nerf darts which will polute the environment forever. Modded nerf guns do havereally fun ballistics and it's fun to have mags and what not. But in every other way gell blasters are better. It is definitely different enough from paintball and airsoft. Those are full blown sports with people competing and taking them seriously, gell blasters definitely fall under more under the toys and games category. I am really ticked that they lowered the rate of fire and didn't include different colored shrouds and muzzels on the green version. I think not including orange muzzels specifically is terrible. Even airsoft guns are required to ship with an orange muzzels. If gell blaster is reading this, please reconsider at least including orange muzzels with the green version for safety reasons. I should also mention there's a video on YouTube where an engineer takes one of the orange ones apart and the internals are for the most part well designed. The lithium ion battery is even connected to a standard jst connector so if it goes bad you can easily replace it. Bravo gell blaster. I really do believe that these are the future and if you want to get your kids off the couch and outside or inside shooting each other, I think at this point this is the best medium in existence for this from a convience standpoint. Even if they're little you can turn the velocity down on the green ones. It really is good for any age and they clean up and fit in a much smaller space than nerf guns. I really do believe these are the future for toys in America. If you have any questions leave a comment below and if it helped you I'd appreciate it if you gave this review a helpful. It takes a lot of time to write these and I really appreciate if you've read this far. I will do my best to keep this review up to date (if I run into any issues or it breaks etc). But overall thanks for reading and have a great day.

Amazing fun. Outstanding product.
Shooting this makes you giggle. Full auto and accurate! The surge is not cheap junk either. It’s well designed. I like that it’s clearly a toy and won’t be confused for a real firearm. No worries with kids at all as long as they’ve got eye protection. Every neighbor we have wants a few. As a bonus some messy migrating birds moved on from a tree above our driveway! 👀 Great Christmas gift for kids and their adult children (me) too! Highly recommend.

Hmmmmm!! great company
Update!!!!This company is awesome! They really stand by there products. I think more companies could learn something from this company’s costumer service. I see great things in the future for these guys.We had issues with the first two and it maybe due to IS not fully understanding the directions!Soak the fell balls for 2 hours and us 1 gallon of water for one pack only. These balls need to get to full size!First review!I bought three, yes three! want to know why? two broke! one after 15 mins and the other after a day. I will say they were fun while they lasted. My son loved it. They come with 5000 small little balls. Wow that's a lot, not really lol. My son went threw them in no time. I ordered more and realized, wow kind of pricy. I did try another brand, but when soaked they became to big. Never even used them. would I buy again? no.(yes) I now understand how to use these.

Garbage
Were garbage didn’t work worth a damn , wouldn’t shoot the gel balls nor would they stay shooting, I took them apart and the gears were stripped. The parts came flying out at me a d you have to figure out what goes where I would recommend buying something different if your thinking about theses gel blasters

Cumple con lo que promete
A mí parecer es una pistola cara 😅 (1300 pesosmx) pero... Si dispara muchas balas, no la he probado con distancias largas pero 5 mts si los llega sin problema.
