Wenge (Millettia Laurentii) is an exotic Tropical Hardwood from Africa with a natural growth range of the species reported to be the open forests of Zaire, Cameroon, Gabon, the southern regions of Tanzania, and Mozambique. It is also found in the swampy forests of the Congo region. Wenge is reported to be a suitable substitute for Hickory for the production of sporting goods. It is moderately hard and resistant to wearing and marring. Strength qualities in compression parallel to grain are exceptionally high. It has a medium to coarse texture, straight grain, and is dark-brown with near black veins. After polishing and curing the Wenge Mongo Muddler can be almost dark black, with a slightly raised grain and patterning that shows up beautifully as it catches the light. Janka Hardness Rating: 2235. Wenge Mongo Muddlers are 1-3/8" diameter by 9” long. (This is my favorite size.) Many Mongo Muddler's are in stock. If so they will be shipped immediately.
