you couldn't have come at a better time in the bands discography
For those not familiar with AtB (after the burial) and this is your first introduction, you couldn't have come at a better time in the bands discography.Previous release, Wolves Within, displayed a very clear direction into a more technical djent phase of the band. Rareform and In Dreams both had plenty in their own right, however neither combined the same level of technical percussion. It also requires noting that the skill is combined with emotion, something many metal albums eschew in favor of pure "heaviness" or loud factor. From a stand point of album production, the quality of this release is top notch. Finally I can get the full sound and power of the enormous chords and drumming. Anthonys vocals have never been more polished but still maintaining a raw edge. Unfortunately, down a guitar player (RIP Justin) the band is now moving forward without his creative input. However this will be a legacy of the writing of both Justin and Trent and the last collaborative effort of the "original" line up. For me this makes the release that much more special.Stand out tracks:CollapseMireHeavy Lies the GroundAll tracks on the album are worth listening to, however these ones in particular for my first few listens hit me the most. This is definitely one of the more eclectic albums they've released. It brings in a lot of their previous harmony choices from albums way back to Forging a Future Self up to Wolves Within and blends these albums into something not only familiar but also breaching new ground. Catacombs showcases some of this new direction.Future releases will be hard to top this and in time this likely will become their benchmark album, if not already.Do yourself a favor, give this a listen, if you enjoy it you'll find something in all their previous efforts to enjoy.

Pretty solid release.
I caught Lost in the Static on the radio and had to investigate the band. I am sold. Solid from start to finish. There was no drop in the middle for a soft song, at least not that I remember. I will have to let this one sit in the player a bit and see which songs bubble to the top as the finest on the album. Generally speaking, if you like the "style" you will like this band.

Great!
I went backwards with the last two AtB albums. Really thought this album was fantastic until I heard Wolves Within... I think Wolves Within is a better album musically, but the mix on Dig Deep is just SO heavy. It's a really unique sound; one of those albums where regardless of what other album you switch to it sounds like it has ZERO balls. A very good album in its own right, though. I think 4.5 stars is a more accurate descriptor for this one!

You don't have to read this cuz it's ATB, buy it.
Love the resiliency here. "Catacombs" squeelies get me every time. It's impossible to deny the heaviness of this band, the creativity, or the heart. It's stylistic, it's original, it's a must-have for metal audiophiles. Don't steal it. Buy it and support metal. Go see them live and buy a t-shirt too. Buy a copy for your mom and scare the pee out of her.

Heavy, dark, and emotional
Amazing album. Before this, In Dreams was one of my favorite albums, but this one took it a step up. There are few albums I can listen to on shuffle and love each song, but this album is among them. It's great to see that the band came back strong and continued on after losing Justin. It feels as if they poured a lot of those feelings into this album and the catharsis comes through in the songs. This is the ATB I know and love.

Head banging fun. I'm no metal head elitist though. Groovy, aggressive.Prefer this over the pure instrument wanking and demons/vortex crap that often gets exalted in this genre.

Wonderful
I was first turned on to ATV thru spotify, hearing wolves within before their earlier works. While I loved WW, it has a much more progressive and djenty sound to it. This album retains some of that but has a much more raw approach. Fantastic sounds from beginning to end. Standout tracks for me are Mire and Laurentian Ghosts. Recommend to anyone who enjoys metal, djent, or just wants a breath of fresh air.

After the Burial does it again!
This album digs deep (see what I did there) into After the Burial's bag of tricks. The riffs are assailing and on-par with any of their previous work. The wah pedal tone is shrieking with the contrast of the down-tuned drums. Overall an incredible album

Shred on Trent!
