Exceeded my expecations for first impressions...
I bought this 1.4x converter to use on my Canon 70-300mm f4-5.6L IS USM lens. I use this lens on my Olympus e-m5 Mk ii with the Metabones adapter. It is not the Speedboost version of the Metabones adapter. However, it is the version that allows for full EXIF communication and auto focus between the Canon EF lens and my Olympus e-M5 Mk II micro 4/3 camera. The Metabones adapter is high quality and makes the Canon behave like a native Olympus lens on my e-M5. By the way, the Canon EF 70-300mm 4-5.6L lens is beautifully sharp at all focal lengths and apertures. I love this lens.I was skeptical as to how the setup would react to adding another device between the Canon Ef 70-300mm lens and the Metabones adapter. I am happy to say, no degradation of function with this Kenko 1.4x added, beyond the closest focal length of 70-100mm. Auto focus still works through all apertures. This was not expected as I had read where some have had said that when they add the Kenko converter that their Canon lens no longer engages auto focus beyond f8. This has not been my experience with the setup I have described that I am using. After a dozen different side by side pics taken of the same subject with and without the Kenko 1.4x, I have determined that there is a slight degradation of image quality at the 70mm end, which seems to resolve itself by 100mm and no degradation at the 300mm end. In every case that I tested, all 300mm images cropped to equal the 1.4x equivalent of 420mm, the 300mm image pixelated significantly more than the 420mm version. Where zooming in was moderate on either image, I saw no discernible difference in image quality, contrast, or color. The addition of the 1.4x seemed to be benign in terms of introducing undesirable traits. It's only apparent impact was in producing better (clearer, less pixelated) images at the extreme end. Which is really what i wanted. I did not try anything that would introduce flare, so I cannot say anything about this.I will be leaving the 1.4x on my Canon as I see no downside and, from my testing, only upsides, the least of which is not having to put it on and off all the time. Leaving it on only denies me the range from 70-98mm (i.e., 70-300mm becomes 98-420mm), which I have well covered with other lenses. So on it will stay.I feel obligated to note, as others have, that the addition of this 1.4x does change the lens from a f4-5.6 to f5.6-8. This was not an issue in my testing as the Canon lens and e-M5 mkii do such a good job at higher iso. I had my camera set to iso 800 on some and 1200 on others and at these iso levels the eM5 has no noise in the images.I just didn't have an issue with the added stop, but I can imagine scenarios where losing a stop might matter.I will make a note to report back in a few months to say of all still seems as good as it does on first impression.

It's Junk--Looks Used--And Company sent me Nikon Mount
Let me start off by saying that Amazon is an amazing company and this 1 star review is about the specific shipping incompetence and actual look and feel of a product received today. Normally, I make a review about a product that I've actually used, but I feel compelled to make the potential buyers at least aware of this company called Computer Store. Now, with that being said, here's what's wrong with this teleconverter:1) Came to me in a dented box (not the amazon shipping box, but the actual smaller box that holds the item2) The label that was adhered to the bottom of the small box was sliced into3) This box (again, not the large Amazon box, but the smaller Kenko box) was dirty, scratched, and dented...Looked like it had been thrown around.4) Before I even opened the box, it sounded like there was a lot of small pieces moving around inside the box (this was not comforting to hear, considering it's a single teleconverter)5) The teleconverter itself looks old and used (small scratches and also just not shiny and new looking)6) The teleconverter sounds like it has pellets inside it. When shaken, you can hear MANY moving 'things' inside this lens. That 'ain't' good, folks.7) And if all of the above six items are not enough... they sent me the NIKON mount, not the Canon mount, which is what I ordered.....Sighhhhh...However, I applaud Amazon Customer Service! They immediately gave me a link to print out a refund slip and Fed Ex label and are putting a rush on crediting my account.Very disappointing purchase, but as always, I am very happy with Amazon as a company.I do not recommend purchasing an item from the actual company that makes this product "Computer Store".Sorry that I cannot give a review of how this teleconverter works with my Canon lens...

Great value - Slight Color shift on Canon 7D + Canon 100-400 + Kenko 1.4x Pro 300 DGX
Hi all - I purchased this teleconverter to give me extra reach when photographing lacrosse from the stands and birds in flight. I tried it out yesterday and ran off 200-400 photos with it. The best feature with this teleconverter is that autofocus continues to work when combined with the Canon 100-400 4.5-6.5/F L lens and the Canon 7D. I was able to track hawks and eagles easily in the air as well as follow players on a large lacrosse field. In all the photos, I could easily make out feathers and individual strands of hair on player faces. Autofocus with a 7D and 100-400 is usually lightening fast. With the teleconverter, autofocus was definitely slower and the camera did not "lock on" as quickly in servo mode. I attribute this to a smaller aperture. Additionally, I detected a slight greenish color cast or color shift in my photos with the teleconverter installed that was not present when the 100-400 was attached directly to the 7D. My lesson learned is that I need to shoot RAW all the time rather than JPG wit this installed. There was a very, very slight clarity loss, but nothing to be horribly concerned about. The corners were slightly darker, but I could correct these in Adobe Lightroom 4. In Picasa, I noted that EXIF data correctly reflects the proper aperture and distance (mm) with each shot. With the 7D + 1.4 Kenko, I was getting an effective range of 200-800 mm.The build quality appears solid (steel) and provides a snug fit. With the 100-400 lens attached + hood, there was no wiggle or play between the lens or the body. Overall, I think this was a very good purchase given the price point (under three hundred) and ability to utilize autofocus. Unless you require absolute perfect image quality and have a budget for $3,000 to $10,000 for long prime lens, this would be the best teleconverter on the market for Canon bodies - even better than the teleconverters that Canon sells at twice the price.

Fantastic and cheaper alternative to Canon equivalent
I did not notice image degradation to an extent which will make it unusable which just makes it perfect. I use it with 70-200 F4 to give it some extra reach. I am quite happy with the result and will happily recommend it. The service from seller was also fantastic with very quick delivery.

Parfait... *****

Kenko 1.4 teleconverter for Canon
Just got one for use with a Canon 70-30mm L IS USM. Works very well with a very visible enlargement in the shots. No noticeable change in quality, allowing for the one-stop loss - I just put the ISO up to 800 - on a Canon 6D noise doesn't seem to exist at this figure. AF works well, and the small extra weight is negligible. At about 1/7 the price of a 100-400mm lens, I'm happy
