The one thing they don't tell you when you purchase a firepit is that it can damage whatever is underneath your firepit. We had ours on the lawn and it really did kill it and left a horrible circle that wouldn't even grow back during the summer. When I purchased this mat, I didn't think it would work but surprisingly it does. Once the firepit is completely cooled, I lifted the mat and the grass that was underneath was still just as green, flat but still green. Our firepit is just under 30 inches, but I bought the 36 inch because the heat does radiate and actually killed the grass in the surrounding area. Even with using our firepit for several hours, this mat protects our grass the whole time we were using it. The mat does get a little warm, but nothing too hot that you could possibly burn yourself. We did make sure that our firepit sits about 5 inches away from the mat, which it does and nothing is wrong with the mat itself. It's a little dirty but other than that, has nothing wrong with it. Great for protecting our yard.

Ok wow this thing is amazing! We got our new 31” fire pit and I was very concerned about damage to the new rug and deck. Rightly so because I measured the temp under the unit with a Bluetooth thermometer. The temp under the fire pit spikes 30 degrees in less than 10 mins! (Screenshot attached)So I ordered this. It fits perfectly under our fire pit. You can barely see it the photo. I then repeated the test, Placing the blue tooth thermometer under the protective mat. After 30 mins the temp measured by the thermometer continues to drop! (Screenshot attached). Well worth the money!

I have a large blanket but sometimes I need a smaller cover for welding. Now I wasn't sure if it was going to work but the size and the price was so much cheaper.Indeed, it worked and has been in my toolbox when I need to cover any part of the material that cannot get the sparks and protect the surface. While it's thin, it feels very durable and seems to keep the spark at bay!I may get another one as this would be great as a protective mat on the quarter-panel when working on my car.

I’m giving this mat a A+. I didn’t even know there was such a thing. When I used my fire pit on my lawn I had a big yellow spot afterwards. I saw this one on line and knew I needed to try this pad . There were many to pick from . I was going to pay $50 for one. Then I saw this one and decided why pay that much. And it work great. Used it for several hours and my lawn wasn’t harmed at all. 👍🏼 UP DATE!! Used this pad for the second time. 😔 burnt my lawn this time. So now I’m going to have to use something under the pad.

Well worth the money. The thickness and sturdiness of the pad is great. The diameter of the pad is larger than the fire pit, which will definitely protect my patio. Great item! Fun times ahead!

I bought this to prevent my lawn from getting damaged from the firepit but apparently it does not work. The protector itself did not melt but a good amount of heat goes through the protector. It did not meet the quality for this purpose.

Just did our backyard and with new stone I didn’t want to ruin them with the fire pit. With the cold nights we have had this has worked out perfect. No stress no worry about ruining my stone. Great material and great price. Size was perfect too

Just purchased along with a new kettle style fire bowl to replace my well worn previous one.. Although not recommended, I use use my fire bowl, with this mat underneath, on a wooden deck to find it very safe in deflecting the heat. The mat itself was cool to touch while the fire roared within the fire pit itself. Thanks for a great product.
