Death Valley National Park Map (National Geographic Trails Illustrated Map, 221)

We hiked four days in Death Valley and this map was very beneficial…

If you’re going to DV & anywhere off the two major highways in the park, you need this map. Great to pair w the Funtreks CA book if you’re planning on going off road. Had lots of trails & points of interest that other maps didn’t even show and NPS site just noted as a point on the map. Great info on what you might be facing in terms of condition. Verify current conditions with a ranger/NPS site. This map is a must!

If you are hiking in Death Valley know that your cell phone is not going to work except near the two lodges. So either download the maps, or buy this one, get a compass and an altimeter if you are planning on doing any long hikes or back rode driving. Other than bringing water, this map is the other thing you are going to wish you had.If you are just going to hike up a couple of the slot canyons you won't need it. They are obvious trails, nearly impossible to get lost on. Any long hikes, a good map will help keep you alive.

I have a lot of National Geographic Maps. I've come to rely on their great quality and the Death Valley map is no different. They are sturdy and weatherproof. Easy to read with clearly marked trails, distances, campsites, etc.I've always felt these map are a must in the back country when out hiking or backpacking. I wouldn't set out without it.

The Nat Geo maps are always trustworthy. Big fan.

Great map proved to be very valuable for our recent Death Valley trip. There is no cell service so this map helped us get around and gave valuable insight into road conditions and more. Will definitely use for our next trips and look into maps for other locations

Death Valley has a lot of trails and mining roads. Modern GPS systems have recently misled travelers, some at the highest expense. I imagine that there are USGS topographicals, especially from earlier in the 20th century, that would be better for all the nuance and detail that is in this desert, but for general tooling around and basic safety I felt this was the best, most current, and reliable map on the market. In my travels I would say it is the map that I most commonly see among others. The park is very well maintained, but some roads are not designated by signage. I have not found roads that were not marked on this map - including smaller roads that flash floods have eviscerated. The valley is well represented through this map and it's legend.Everything I have wanted to find with this map, I have been able to. This map was recommended to me by members of the park service, but speak with rangers in Death Valley yourself before traveling into its wilds. There is a facebook page for current road conditions in the park.

Great place, big place, lotsa nooks, crannies and side roads. Make sure you don't accidentally drive into a crater or bump into a dinosaur. Buy one and never get lost in Death Valley again.

If youa are planning a road trip in the usa this is one of the map that you absolutely need on you trip.

Da ich nach 2011 irgendwann wieder einmal nach Kalifornien und auch ins Death Valley möchte, besonders um im Valley ein paar Rourten abseits der bekannten Touristenpfade zu gehen, habe ich mir diese Karte zuegelegt.Es sind nach meiner Erinnerung alle fahr- und gehbaren Wege auch in den enstprechenden Zuständen (Allrad notwendig etc.) beschrieben und verzeichnet. Es werden gute Hinweise für mögliche Fußwanderungen offeriert.Alles in allem eine Top-Karte mit GPS-Daten.

I found this map redundant. It does not have more detail than most other maps available everywhere and free. Not good for hiking. Not clear as to which roads are needing 4x4 cars.
