It indeed flips, and it is astonishingly light. But the hinges, narrow top tray, handle, and feet are all plastic. Note that the Little Giant CEO is on camera in one of their notorious infomercials saying "rubber grips, plastic slips."The runs are spaced a ladder-standard 1' apart, which is a pretty big step down when descending the ladder. I don't feel as confident on this as other step ladders for this reason. Plus, the rungs on my old rubber-footed, Target-bought, steel-frame step ladder are all almost as wide as the platform on this one, whereas the treads on the Little Giant are maybe 3" wide. They're also textured aluminum, not rubberized.Relative to the Gorilla Hybrid ladders, the Little Giant are way more expensive; spread out wider at the base, making them harder to position; have smaller feet, making them more difficult to use outdoors; and keep your toes 5 inches further away from a wall if pointed that way (14" for the Little Giant vs. 9" for the Gorilla). The Gorilla also have 2 platforms and an additional step.Since there are no rungs above the platform, the 5-foot ladder is really a 33" ladder, and the 6' ladder is a 45" ladder. In all, it's a seriously expensive way to get your feet less than 3' (5-foot model) or less than 4' (6-foot model) off the ground.

The media could not be loaded.  I'm a professional photographer and I often need to get to a higher vantage point for group photos or sporting event video work.This ladder is easy to load, carry and setup. It makes no squeaky noises once setup.The rubber feet are soft enough that they hold their position on smooth flooring without marking.The treads are wide and comfortable for my feet.The platform is wide and deep enough for comfort and the ladder doesn't wobble around, so pretty stable for video.For the light weight, I am impressed by the strength and stability of this ladder and I am very glad I bought it!I highly recommend this ladder as comfortable and SAFE. No reservations at all.

While I do like this ladder and did order another after yesterday's fall, this is what the ladder looked like after the tumble. No I can't blame the ladder for the fall. But no way it should have snapped in half on one side. It's why I can't give it any better than 2 stars on it's durability. And, yup, I now have 3 stitches in my upper lip (and a swollen face). Ow!

This is a great ladder! I live in a small apartment in the city with high ceilings - which means I have 1)very little space, 2)fantastic, but very high storage spaces, and 3)no car. I needed a lightweight ladder that would reach up to those storage spaces - I'm short (5'2"). I can easily carry the ladder (label says it is 12.5lbs) with one hand and it folds very flat, making easy to store. And with free shipping, I did not have to worry about getting the ladder home from the store.When opened, the top of the black step is 45" from the ground (my measurement). The orange piece at the top has a nice tray for nails, etc. To close the ladder, pull on the handle tab of the black step. The ladder is well made and I feel secure as I'm moving luggage up and down it. The only watch-out I have for this ladder (which goes for any ladder) is to be careful where you put your fingers as you close the it. I caught my fingers once, and ouch! I mention this not as a defect of this ladder - which I love - but as something that will probably happen to most of us.

First of all, I do like this stepladder but I have a couple of comments to make. One problem I see is that, according to the photos of the stepladder I bought, the step platform appears to be made out of, or at least be covered with, black rubber or hard plastic but the stepladder I received has a metal platform like the rest of the other steps. I think rubber on the platform would be safer and more comfortable to stand on. Also, I am a short, slim older woman with back problems and while I can presently handle the weight of the ladder it is not as light as I thought it would be based on some of the other reviews of this stepladder. Other than that the ladder appears to be well built and I hope it will stand the test of time, so I am glad I purchased it.I have one recommendation for Amazon.com, please change the current photo of the stepladder to a photo of the stepladder with a metal platform like the rest of the other steps, buyers deserve to know exactly what to expect when they buy this stepladder. Thank you!

OMG! Who knew I would be EXCITED by a Ladder!!! I just got this and Love it! I am 60, 5'2" and feel VERY Safe and Secure on this. I am Shocked that I can reach (safely) my (business) florescent lights on the ceiling! I have an 8' ladder to accomplish that Now that is so hard to get out of my storage closet, and I never felt safe on it (even though it wasn't cheap)! I may be giving away a ladder! Also, I may actually WANT to clean that ceiling fan at home. I bought one of these for home--mostly likely will buy another one for my business. (A similar ladder is sold on QVC/HSN--same manufacturer. When I saw it "first introduced" on TV I created a reminder for me to read the reviews in a month. I just read the reviews and they were great so I thought "Let me check" Amazon! Sure enough, THIS ladder (same manufacturer) is better---Cheaper and Free shipping (with Prime). Get this ladder! You won't be sorry!

My gf wanted me to replace all 60 pot lights in my new house with better bulbs. We have 9 foot ceilings and I'm afraid of heights so I needed a tall and sturdy home ladder. Nailed it on the first purchase. This ladder is awesome. It weighs next to nothing, folds up easy, and is extremely well spaced and sturdy when deployed. You can grip the top railing when standing on it and the steps are wide and easy to stand on. It weights next to nothing. There's also a groove on the top railing where you rest tools etc. A fantastic ladder to have around the house and tall enough to comfortably reach 9' ceilings and more.

I will add my voice to the choir of excellence here. Little Giant has hit a home run with this piece of household equipment. This is a new family of ladders called podium ladders because the top rung is a platform that enables you to move about without getting off the ladder and resetting it.I am 5'10" and can reach a 10' ceiling when I am standing on the deck so there is very little around the inside of the house I cannot do. Once you are on the top platform you can lean against the railing and you feel solid.I got the 6 ft version which I would strongly recommend if you have a newer house with taller ceilings.The ladder is so well designed that you can only think - what took so long to make a ladder like this.Run don't walk to pick one of these ladders up.

Para uso al interior del hogar es excelente: delgada (doblada cabe prácticamente en cualquier lugar), ligera, resistente (peso 92 kg. y la escalera como si nada) y alta (mis techos están a 3 mts. y parado en la plataforma alcanzo fácilmente).

This is the perfect stepladder for my husband and me - Light enough for me to carry around and sturdy enough to securely hold my 240lb husband. And tall enough that I can safely replace the pot lights in our 10 foot ceiling. More expensive than other ladders but worth every penny.
