Makes a nice, but expensive, blue nightlight
Do not waste your money on these products!I bought two over a year ago. I placed them both in my garage, where mice from the woods get into our house, and I pluggd them into wall outlets. One of them was just above a potting bench. Because I had seen no decrease in the evidence of mouse activity over the last year, I put out several Smart Mouse Traps (available on Amazon; humane, and highly recommended), including one positioned about 2 feet directly in front of this ultrasonic pest repeller. Guess what? The next day, I had a fat and healthy mouse in the trap. Maybe he was deaf....If I had an oscilloscope and a suitable microphone, I would've tested these devices and reported the results, but I don't. My suspicion is that they are just a housing with a pretty blue light inserted. Because they appear to be useless, I may dismantle one just to see what's inside. Whatever is in there, it doesn't work.I recommend trap and release, especially in the Fall when mice are trying to find a cozy place to spend the winter (best to clear them out of your home before they get too settled). Just make sure not to do so in freezing weather, or you will find mousecicles in the morning. Also don't do it when it's too hot, because the mice will quickly become dehydrated. If it's cold, I put several pieces of corn inside to help them maintain body heat overnight. The best bait I have found is Triscuits (the traps seem almost perfectly designed to accommodate their square shape) smeared with a thin layer of peanut butter.Release your captives at least a mile from your house, preferably in a wooded area not close to anyone else's house. They have been known to travel long distances to get back to their point of origin. I leave them any corn they didn't eat and the triscuits so they have snacks to get them started on their new life back in the wild. I also suggest using multiple traps placed in popular spots over multiple days. It's best to get all members of the family out into the woods together.Good luck!
