Genuine Honda Parts are More Expensive Than This
Forget the star rating I gave this product. The price of this kit may make it a counterfeit. I have never seen genuine Honda parts for less than half of retail price. The pictures are genuine. What you get may not be genuine. If it's a counterfeit, return it. If these are really genuine Honda parts,, the seller needs to include photos of the actual label on the belt and the seals on the bearings. If these parts are legit, he should know he is competing with many counterfeit parts labeled as OEM quality or with Honda packaging, that are not genuine Honda parts.I ordered one of these kits elsewhere for a low price and what I got was counterfeit parts. I had old parts removed from other vehicles to compare them with. The timing belt in the cheap kit did not have three lines of text like OEM belts that are labeled Honda, Aisin or Mitsuboshi. The seals on the idlers were black rather than brown like the OEM Koyo bearing seals. And there are no oil seals or serpentine belt included with a genuine Aisin kit that normally goes for $170-$200.If you use anything other than ACTUAL OEM parts and kits to replace your timing belt, you may end up with a premature belt failure and thousands of dollars in collateral damage. These engines are interference engines, which means that if the timing belt breaks, valves WILL be bent. Repair cost is maybe $1500-$2000 Do it Yourself, up to $4000 at a dealer.Read the Honda forums before you try to save money with a Brand X timing belt and kit, or a cheaper kit labeled "Honda". There are many of these poor quality clones and counterfeits on the market, and some even use the Honda or "Genuine Honda" name in their listings. The genuine Honda OEM kits, the high priced kits that I know that are genuine, do not have three oil seals included in these kits, or a serpentine belt. The OEM timing belts are labeled with three lines of printed text on the belt, with the brand name Honda, Aisin or Mitsuboshi and the seals on the idlers are brown and are labeled "Koyo" brand. The other kits are probably not of OEM quality, and to use them to save a few dollars is an unwarranted risk.Just don't do it.
