Winter Is Here

Warm feelings on a snowy day
The words flow, the pictures are friendly and cheerful, and it’s a relaxing book. You’ll be lulled in yourself. This is just the right book to spend quality time with your youngsters, or for teachers to let the kids take a break. And it doesn’t matter if snow hasn’t reached your state yet (it takes a while to get to the arid, southern areas), books are meant to help you immerse yourself in another world and divert your attention for a little while. This is perfect. (FYI, Henkes has two other books for spring and fall, and illustrator Dronzek nails the pictures.)

Classic Kevin Henkes
Last spring, we began talking about seasons with our then 2.5 year old. Now 3.5, we ordered this book for winter. Like the other books about seasons by Kevin Henkes, this book is written at a toddler/preschool level highlighting the main features of winter. There is repetition, alliteration and beautiful illustrations to keep little one's engaged.

Sweet Winter Tale
This is a fun story about winter life. The illustrations are adorable and inviting. This tale has simple rhythmic text that can interest both young and school age children.

Love this book and it’s pictures
this was a great way to start talking about seasons without it feeling like a school lesson for my 2 year old. She now uses many of the descriptions in the book when we are out and about to tell us what she is seeing. Kevin Henkes is one of our very favorite authors and these season books are so fun!

Two Thumbs up!
I love the season books by Kevin Henkes. The story is simple and educational. The illustrations are fantastic. My 3 year old grandson asks to read these over all other books I have.

good but smell
I will definitely give it a five star if it doesn’t smell. The print is nice and colorful, just a strong smell that i have to keep it from the child for awhile.

The wonders and the happiness to experience during the winter are explored.
The colors, the drawings, and the text can’t be beat in this wonderful picture book by Kevin Henkes and illustrated by his wife, Laura Dronzek. I think they capture the essence of the winter season and very successfully honor and celebrate it.

Wonderful book!
Love this “series” by Henkes! The simple words and beautiful illustrations are perfect for little ones. And I love the details, such as the front pages having snowflakes and the back having flowers & butterflies.
