The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones (Miniature Editions)

I feel that the other reviews have been a bit unfair, or at least had different expectations. This is not a large product. It is one of those small boxed sets that bookstores sell by the register. As such, the books are always a "bonus" and not the main attraction, so to speak. If I thought I was ordering a normal sized book, I would have been disappointed. As someone who really likes those small sets, this is an excellent value.Hot Topic sells products similar to each of the individual items, but at a higher cost. The tattoo set is very similar, only slight smaller, than one at HT for $6.50 on its own. They have a similar necklace (only it is longer and a solid black vs. gunmetal color for $14.50. In the past, they have sold similar movie magnets for $3ish each. Thus, the value in the set is obvious.The necklace is a shorter chain, but I actually love that. I have a very small neck, so it hangs on me as an 18" typically hangs on someone else. I'd say it is probably 16 inches or so, but I did not measure it. It most certainly is not shorter than 15 inches. The pendant and chain are a nice gunmetal color, extremely smooth, and well made. They're very shiny and pretty.In previous bookstore-register boxed sets I've gotten, it is typical to get a necklace and a small book or stickers. This set gives you that and quite a bit more. If you look at it that way, it is well worth the cost and you get quite a lot.

I will preface my review by saying that I literally only bought this for the necklace. That being said, this necklace is absolutely amazing. I didn't know what to really expect as no one posted their own pictures and the reviews were mixed, but I'm completely in love with this necklace. The chain isn't overly long, falls just above my bust. This is the only slightly negative thing as the shape and position kind of just make it look like an arrow pointing to my cleavage. The material of the actual pendant differs from the product picture provided, and reminds me of the hematite necklaces that you can get in the Caribbean. Moving on to the other items in the box, the magnets are shown in the picture, being the picture of everyone and the other of just Clary. They and the picture book are fairly unremarkable, to be honest. There are quite a few temporary rune tattoos in the kit, each stating what they symbolize below. Overall, if you're looking for an amazing package of stuff to add to your collection, I can't say that I would recommend this. If, however, you are like me, only truly seeking the necklace, I think that it is for sure worth the price!!

Revision: Most recently I was at a party and was playing air hockey. I leaned down and my pendant got caught in the goal area. I got it out safely, however the cord snapped. Ill be looking for a new one to wear the pendant on - which survived and looks as good as ever.The box - as other reviews have said- is extremely small. The necklace pendant itself is smaller than I first guessed however it fit around my neck perfectly. The tattoos ar small as well - much smaller than those in the movie appear to be - although they do come with directions to apply and tell the names of all of the runes. The magnets look cute and good on true fridge and can actually hold small papers down - just not a lot. The little booklet has a lot of quotes and pictures. Over all this went above and beyond my expectations after reading the other reviews. Maybe the necklace doesn't fit right to other people because they have somewhat of thicker necks? And neither the pendant nor the chain have affected my skin badly. Love it!

1st off, be aware that this item IS NOT some huge collection of movie merch. In fact, it's literally not very big in size at all.With that being said, it IS a nice addition to your Mortal Instruments movie merch collection. The necklace is more of a choker but is still cool as a display item. The rune tats are cool & look like they do in the movie & the small booklet had some neat little fun facts.As the item says, It's a PROMO pack. You get what you pay for. Which may no be much but is a nice touch for a fans' collection.I got this for my wife, along with the movie, for Christmas & she enjoyed both of them.If you are a fan that appreciates little collectibles then you will enjoy this. If you are expecting some grand box of goodies then this item is not for you.Also, It arrived on time & in great shape.

The box itself was damaged (squashed), so I was a little worried about the contents, but they were just fine. The little booklet is a bit small, but it's perfect for a coffee table/bedside stand read. The magnets are pretty big, but one of the designs on one of them was starting to peel but I just superglued it. I haven't opened the tattoos yet, but from what I can see they are good sized and I really like that they put what each rune means. And last but not least, the necklace. I can confirm that the actual chain is super short, and it might as well be a bracelet. I suppose if you have a really small neck it would be ok, but otherwise the chain can be replaced easily and cheaply. The pendant itself is good quality and has a shiny metallic look to it.

I mostly got this for the necklace because buying the necklace separately was more expensive and with this I got all this other random stuff to. The little book just had pictures of the cast with weird quotes underneath of it (for example a picture of Kevin Zegers with his hands on Lily Collins throat and the words "if you ever say anything like that again,I will kill you") it isn't really annoying special, the tattoos are great if you have something to do with them, which I don't, the magnets are cool, (well one of them is, the other has Lily Collins coming out of the middle of the angelic power rune and says "your fate is sealed" and I'm not really sure where that quote came from) but the necklace is the best part, is short and black and I wear it all the time and it hasn't broken, and is a great way to find fellow TMI fans. I would recommend this, overall the items are quality, even if they are a bit weird.

What a great item! I wanted to get some TMI merchandise for a cheap price. Wherever I looked for the rune necklace it was either too girly or expensive or so cheap it was from china and takes 2 months to arrive. This was great. The power rune is really good quality and looks great with my collection on my book shelf. The magnets, I didn't know were included, were also great quality and look fantastic. The temporary tattoos look awesome and you get quite a few! And the small book with the quotes and pictures in is great as well. Seriously for the money you pay, and you get all of this for £6.35. Im really impressed. Normally it would cost at least £5 for the power rune, £1 for the book, £2 for the magnets and £3 for the tattoos. Thats £11 - i think this is such a good deal! and such good quality. Perfect for TMI fans, if you like the film or not!

I bought this for my daughter. She is aged 10 and has read all of the five books currently. She loved this. The pendant especially. Its decent quality and has survived battles with her younger sister. The temporary tattoos last an age. The first ones she applied stayed on for nearly a week! The print on the magnets is low quality and the images on the book likewise but over all for the price and quality of the pendant a worthwhile purchase, especially for the joy it brought

I was worried about the price and quality of this product after reading some of these reviews, but as I am such a huge fan of The Mortal Instruments and The Infernal Devices series, as well as the City of Bones film, I decided to buy it anyway.It arrived much sooner than expected, and I was really happy about that because I couldn't wait! As some of the reviews have said, the picture doesn't exactly reflect the true size of everything, but I really wasn't disappointed in the slightest because everything is brilliant. The runes may be smaller than some of the others I have seen being sold, but you get ten runes here for a cheaper price than the others and a lot more besides. The necklace is beautiful and I don't understand why other people have complained about it in their reviews, because the necklace is the same length as most of the necklaces I own so I don't have any complaints!The pictures on the magnets are clear and beautiful, and the book, although quite small, is printed well and is really good quality with clear pictures and everything, as well as very well bound. Also, it will fit in your pocket so you can take it anywhere! :')Having bought and received this product, I have no regrets. I haven't tried the tattoos yet, but I will and I am not worried that they will smudge or not last long, or be any different from other temporary tattoos.Can I just say- don't judge this product until you have bought it yourself, but I personally love it and it is a great product for the money I spent. :)

Negatives-When this product came the box in which the products were contained was squashed flat to allow it to fit into the exterior packaging, this was slightly disappointing as I am a massive fan so of course, am keeping the box. However, when this was straightened out it was clear there was no damage to the contents themselves and the condition of the box is now fine. The other factor was the size; it was much smaller that I had assumed it to be from the photograph however, the dimensions are stated in the description.Positives-I am a massive fan of TMI and therefore wear the necklace everyday! Although the chain is shorter than anticipated I really do love it! As for the mini book, it is very nicely done despite the small size, it contains nice pictures and it great for any fan! The tattoos are good quality and easy to apply and the two magnets are a nice size with lovely coloring. Overall I love this and the value for money is great as I originally mainly purchased it for the necklace and had been viewing similar TMI necklaces I must note that the price of the product is cheaper than that for similar necklaces despite the fact that this has all the other items included!I may consider purchasing this again when I have used up the tattoos because I will certainly want more!

I bought this for my daughter. Unfortunately, the rune pendant broke immediately. My daughter has the full collection but was left heart broken because the pendant was not usable. sadly, she did not tell me immediately because she thought she'd hurt my feelings.I would not recommend this product especially if it is present; it could ,leave you red faced.
