Adam Hall SLT003 Laptop Stands

First of all: It fits a Macbook Pro 15" (the unibody design that's been out for the past 4ish years) just great, with a little room to move around. I kind of doubt it fits a 17", but maybe. The surface has raised edges, with cutouts on the front and top right for things like a power cable and headphones. This is a much better solution for the classroom than putting your laptop on a music stands, which some of my classmates do sometimes. It makes me cringe. This stand solves that problem.I bought this for using my laptop or small synthesizers on stage during performances. It is heavy, but not too heavy...just enough to feel supportive. It's like a small PA system stand, with a tilting platform on top. I'll need to cut out some foam padding to put down so my keyboard fits on there nicely, but it will definitely work. The tightening mechanisms on the stand are all pretty well built, I'm not too worried about them failing.Assembling the stand from the packaging is easy without instructions, you just take off the metal rod and slide the platform onto the frame. However, out of the box, the platform is noticeably slightly bent at one corner, and the attachments to the stands were a little bent (I bent them back already). This concerned me. Can't give it five stars like that, but so far it seems like a reliable product. If my opinion changes in the future, I'll edit my review.

Pictures don't show it but this is a very well built stand the tripod tube and legs are big and firm does not bend and can handle the weight of my Dell Precision laptop that fits perfect on it. Packaging is a little lacking and had some scratches from the top moving around in the box against the tripod but otherwise good deal for the quality comparable to instand brand that runs for more than 4x as much. I'm putting tripod caster on it to make it a wow for around the house and the garage when connecting to my cars for programming.

The only problem is the clamp the holds the music rack up quit, so I had to use a hose clamp to hold it in place. Other than that I still use it every week.

I ordered this tripod, when the unit arrived it was a used unit, horrible scratches all over the tripod and the base where you put the laptop was bent.I returned it and requested a replacement just to receive another unit and it was obvious that was not brand new, it also has scratches and the base laptop was bent as well. I will say the second unit has less damage, but still, is not a brand new item,The worse part was to discover the bad quality of manufacturing, one corner did not had a good finish and it had sharp edges close where your wrist will be in the natural position.I do not recommend to buy this unit to anyone.

this is very sturdy and gives me every angle I need with my laptop in my studio

I bought this for several reasons.First, I do a lot of public speaking and wanted a place to practice. It works fine for that and feels a lot more like an actual podium than a music stand does.Second, I wanted a standing desk. But the good adjustable, hydraulic, electronic ones are $1200, which is categorically out of my budget. I unpacked this thing and realized, though, that I'd essentially gotten myself a standing desk (and a much more compact one at that) for $50 bucks. I can't put my 21" Imac on there, but I can put my laptop for typing. I'm also going to use it for reading and writing.Finally, I sometimes have to use a projector for presentations, and this thing works perfectly as a projector stand.Could not be more pleased. I wrote this because I was shocked to see it only had 2 starts. Mine looks great!

Grundsätzlich ein schönes, qualitatives Produkt, aber Laptops halten nicht auf schräger Fläche mangels ausreichend hoher Kante. So kann der Ständer für Laptops nur mit ebener Fläche und nicht geschrägt benutzt werden.

Gefällt mir sehr gut. Sehr stabile und Robuste Bausweise gerade auch wenn der Laptop für Auftritte oder sonstiges verwendet wird. Immer zuverlässig

Grund des Kaufs: Das Stativ soll für einen Beamer genutzt werden und muß daher schon sicher und stabil stehen. Da es für ähnlich schwere Laptops vorgesehen ist, gute Bewertungen hat und preiswert erschien, habe ich es gekauft.Nach zügiger Lieferung begann ich mit der Inbetriebnahme. Der Zusammenbau scheint leicht, so daß das Fehlen einer Aufbauanleitung verschmerzbar erschien. Als ich allerdings die Standplatte am Ständer befestigen wollte, kam ich nicht weiter. Es ist zwar klar, daß die bogenförmigen Führungsschlitze der Platte zwecks Kippung irgendwie auf die Achse am Ständer müssen, aber das pilzförmige Achsenende war bombenfest, während man den Schlitz auf das andere Achsenende hätte stülpen können, weil der dortige Feststellknebel abschraubbar ist.Da man an neue Produkte auch nicht mit Gewalt geht, wollte ich beim Lieferanten nachfragen. Die überall angegebene Telefonnummer von Terrasound (035322-18528) gibt es allerdings nicht ("... ist nicht vergeben"). [==> Inzwischen funktioniert die Telefonnummer - habe es gleich nach dem untenstehenden Kommentar von Terrasound überprüft.] Daher rief ich beim Hersteller Adam Hall an (wo das Teil übrigens teurer ist) um nachzufragen. Nach internen Beratungen sagte man mir, der Bolzen (die Achse) muß auf jeden Fall irgendwie raus.Mit diesem Wissen ging ich also mit sehr großer Kraft vor und konnte mit einer Zange den Bolzen soweit herausdrehen, bis ein Maulschlüssel in den Zwischenraum paßte, um die Achse ganz zu entfernen und durch die Schlitze zu stecken. Damit war das Problem gelöst, allerdings der "Pilzrand" des Bolzens durch die Zange auch etwas angegriffen.Die Platte ließ sich bei mir zunächst nicht ganz waagerecht stellen und blieb vorne ca. 5° nach oben geneigt. Man hätte also den Schlitz etwas weiter auszufeilen oder den Beamer zum Ausgleich insgesamt etwas tiefer stellen müssen. Aber ha! Wenn man die Platte um 180° gedreht montiert, läßt sie sich nach beiden Seiten abwärts kippen und somit in der Zwischenposition auch waagerecht ausrichten. Das Wiederentfernen und Neumontieren ist allerdings mühevoll, weil dazu wieder der "Bolzenvorgang" (s.o.) stattfinden muß.Da ein Rezensent festgestellt hatte, die Platte hielte zwar, aber draufdrücken solle man besser nicht, tat ich genau das ganz leicht, um das Gewicht eines Beamers zu simulieren. Tatsächlich senkte sich die Stativstange leicht in ihr Rohr, also zog ich den Spannknebel etwas fester. Dabei riß das umhüllende Kunststoffteil, so daß die Stange nicht mehr festgeklemmt werden konnte. Ein anderer Rezensent, dem auch gleich nach der Inbetriebnahme dasselbe geschehen ist, behob das Problem mit einer Klemmschelle. So habe ich es nun auch gemacht, weil ich das Produkt grundsätzlich für brauchbar halte, besonders für den Preis. Außerdem ist der Erwerb einer Schelle (1,00 €) einfacher (und schneller) als das Wiederverpacken, Wegbringen und Anstehen am Postschalter sowie das Erwarten der Ersatzlieferung. Mit der Schelle hält es jetzt bombenfest und nichts versinkt.Die Nichterreichbarkeit des Lieferanten kreide ich nicht dem Produkt an, aber die Kontaktdaten sollten mal aktualisiert werden.[==> Inzwischen funktioniert die Telefonnummer - habe es gleich nach dem untenstehenden Kommentar von Terrasound überprüft.]Insgesamt (bis auf die Plastikteile) ist das Stativ sehr stabil und praktisch und daher zu empfehlen. Wegen der Mängel vergab ich zunächst nur 3 Sterne, weil auch bei günstigem Preis ich nicht noch so umfangreich nacharbeiten möchte - manch einer könnte es vielleicht gar nicht. Aber jetzt, wo ich mit Mühe und Zeit alle Probleme behoben habe, würdige ich das eigentliche Produkt nun doch mit 4 Sternen.
