Works well and feels sturdy, required a lot of strap adjustment to get the right fit
settings for SMAW/stick, MIG welding--> [SHADE/RANGE Switch: 9/13 SHADE] [DELAY: MAX] [SENSITIVITY: HI] [SHADE: 9/13 (the darkest)].test autodarkening using a phone screen or non-LED light bulb or lighter. the 5/9, LO (GRIND) settings are not meant to be used for stick/mig welding and are too light.

Cool looking, not long lasting
This is the first review I’ve ever written, my husband has had this helmet about 6 months… and since he’s needed to replace parts that don’t exist, and yesterday needed a new battery, replaced it and the helmet still doesn’t work. 125 bucks for a helmet that couldn’t even last a year 🙃.

Forney low amp tig hood
Works great on low amp tig..love the crisp white color of the lens! I have multiple miller digital elite hoods and also own the miller infinity. The clear cover lens is wavy but the hood works great. Well done forney!

It’s good but then it’s not
So I’ve been using this hood for over a year now, and things to note, the helmet cages are cheap and break in a few months, I called Forney and they sent me another hood and then they cage broke shortly after, I don’t to any crazy welding I’m an 8 hour day tig welder, now let’s get on to the electronics, at first the electronics were amazing, but slowly it started developing issues, like flashing, only certain shades working, and then the darkness just sticking on completely, I’ve even had the shade stop working mid weld on multiple occasions. So my over all opinion it’s a good helmet, it just needs some revisions to make it even better, I guess the benefit to it is that the size of the lenses is pretty common so you can easily fit the electronics out of a Lincoln or Miller helmet.

Not very durable
So I was really excited to get this hood, I mean look at it! It’s bad ass, it’s got that a-10 warthog look. If only the plastic was actually durable, day one I got it out of the box checked it out. The adjustability is a little too much for my taste. It was hitting my face, so I used extremely adjustable headgear. I ended up tearing the plastic of the actual hood in the process. The auto-darkening lens I only tested with a cigarette lighter, I never got to use it. I think I’ll just stick with my Jackson hood.
