This is the stripper to use!
Awesome stripper! I have a huge porch that I had to strip. A huge wrap around and a large uncovered back deck. The previous owners had on a semi solid stain that of course peeled. I had to strip my whole deck in order to go to an oil stain. This made that bearable to do. I had a semi solid stain on my covered porch and a solid stain on my uncovered porch. The semi came off like butter! the solid, took more work. It does not work so well on vertical applications, unless you are working on a not so hot day, like an overcast day. for my posts, i did them in the morning and then sanded them. it took a lot off but you really have to reapply it a lot for vertical applications. The brighter worked great, but I only used the brightener after i sanded with 80 grit the whole deck. its important to open up the wood to allow the stain to soak in. so after stripping, letting the wood dry for 2 days, sanding, Then i sprayed on the brightener, and sprayed off with a garden hose. I then let the wood sit for 3 days till it was completely dry and then stained my deck. Some tips.1. use more than it tells you too2. Keep the area wet with product during the wait time, dont let it get dry.3. use a pressure washer to spray off4. on solid stain you will have to strip it more than once.5. Try not to work in the sun. Do early morning or late afternoon. it helps keep the product wet.6. buy more than what you think you will need if you have a large deck or solid stain. This project of mine took all summer, but there is no way I would of done it, if i didn't have this product. My end result was wonderful as I will never have to strip again and never have peeling stain, only do a maintenance coat with oil stain! The last photo is of the new oil stain.

worked
I had Sikens SRD stain on my pressure treated deck. used the Heavy Duty Wood stripper and agitated with a stiff deck brush. waited 20 minutes and rinsed, with a pressure washer with a low pressure tip. even did my vertical post. and beam, and the stripper worked great..was not sure it would work on the vertical surface, but it did for me..cleaned off the 6 by 6 post and 12 inch header, used the same brush also..took the stain off and cleaned the graying off the boards that the stain was gone on..hd-80 worked great for me..took a little work but the most important thing was the product worked...

Did not take off solid stain
The stripper did not remove any of the solid stain on my deck. Not after 15 min, not after 30, and not after a thorough deck brush scrubbing. I removed the stain with a sander instead. I later reapplied the stripper, waited, and scrubbed it down again and then treated it with the brightener to see what effect it would have on the wood, which was unfortunately minor. To be fair, after you've gone at it with a sander it is already in pretty good shape to begin with. It did clean the wood up some, but I'm not sure it was worth all the scrubbing. Pressure washing seemed to have about the same effect on its own. Perhaps if it had been stained with a transparent or semi-transparent stain this product would have performed better.

Need a consistent deck stripper...
I purchased 2 of these kits back in September, due to my having quite a bit of decking (nearly 900 sq. ft.) and I wanted to have the stripping/cleaning/new stain on my deck by now since I had the extra time to get it done. I have to give the HD-80 product 3 stars, just because it worked great on some of the vertical pieces of my wood decking, not all of it. On the rest, the solution either just sat on it or dripped. I made 4 gallons of this product to brush onto my vertical posts, spindles and frames, using a couple of paint brushes, since these are the most difficult to remove 2 coats of a brand-name latex deck stain. I kept the items as wet as possible with the solution, then rinsed 15-20 minutes after each application. Some of the posts, spindles and frames looked great where I can see the bare wood, while the others still have latex deck stain on them. To rinse these, I used the "Jet" setting on my multi-spray hose nozzle that was attached to my garden hose, then I used a medium-hard nylon bristle scrub brush to try to remove the excess stain, then rinsed again. After a few days, I repeated the process of using more of this solution onto those said items, waited another 15-20 minutes after applying, rinsed, scrub-brushed, then rinsed again. Same result. As of today, I haven't tried this on my horizontal floorboards/planks yet so I can't say how this product works on those items. Also, since I've been continually stripping the verticals of the deck, I haven't been able to use the deck brightener/neutralizer yet.Considering that my decking is getting up in age (16 years), I really didn't want to work with a power washer but now I might have to...also, now that we're nearing the month of November, I'm going to be pretty limited in time and weather to continue working on these decks (I'm in PA). I sure was hoping that this product would be the one but...as of now, not so much.UPDATE:Today is May 17, 2017 and I finally had the time (and weather) to get back to my deck restoration project. Also, I purchased a new pressure washer a few weeks ago to make my stripping job easier (or so I had hoped!)Well, yesterday I used the remaining HD-80 stripper on my upper decking floorboards. I followed the directions for removing the latex, semi-transparent deck stain (apply, wait 15 minutes), with using my pressure washer this time. This time, the results were truly wonderful! Very, very little stain left on the wood! After I finished these, I tried using this on some of my vertical spindles with the pressure washer. Again, some of the old stain came off, while the rest barely budged. I didn't want to risk damaging my wood just to get the rest of this stain off so I stopped while I was ahead. At this point, I can say that for horizontal wood pieces, the HD-80 wood stripper is a great product. For vertical ones, it's just okay. I would still give this product 3 stars just because of the fact that I had to use a pressure washer for optimal results, and it still didn't work on all of my wood.Today, I finally used the Citralic wood brightener. Now this is a 5-star product! All my bare wood looked wonderful after using this stuff! Plus, it was easy to prepare and use. I would highly recommend this product! So, for the two products, I'll have to give 4 stars (average of 3 stars for the stripper and 5 stars for the neutralizer).

Impressed!!!
This stuff is awesome! Mixed it in a weed sprayer. Sprayed on. Let set. Sprayed off. The old stain just rolled off! Very impressed!

Requires more than application and rinse
Did not remove all stain even with brush and powerwash. Be careful of contact with skin, next time will use protective gear.

Works really well
My ipe deck was really sorry. Between the stripper and brightener, it looks new. In the interest of full disclosure, it didn't come clean by spraying and pressure wash, I used a green scouring pad to really work it in and then pressure wash. Be forewarned, keep this stuff off your skin. IT HURTS
