Size S fit my 5 year old well, however, she is rather petite. I would say M for a tall 5 year old, and L for a tall 8 year old. They also have a size chart on the product page.

I noticed a customer said NO. If that is true then this cannot be sold in the US or Canada as sleepwear since it does not conform to the Government Flammability requirements. It would not be legal to sell in US or Canada without sewn in labels stating FPU and GPU information.
