Good read
Although Lord of the Ring- is this is one of the best of those I have read. Fast-paced and at times frenetic. Plotting is very good and very follow able. Jeffrey K is now one of my favorites.

A 4 1/2 star fantasy read
Eye of Obscurance (Fate of Wizardoms #1). my seventh read from author Jeffrey L. Kohanek. Well-written with intricately developed characters you can invest heavily in and the storyline with its intricate twists & surprises as the tension & suspense ratchets up throughout the book’s length. 300 pages but reads even longer with the attention to detail written into the story. Owning both the Kindle & Audible editions I was able to follow along while being read to. I look forward to reading more in this series.Balance of Magic (Fate of Wizardoms #2). my eighth read from author Jeffrey L. Kohanek. Picks up seamlessly from the end of the first book. 342 pages but reads even longer with the attention to detail written into the story. Kohanek’s fantasy worlds have become one of my favorite fantasy reads.Temple of the Oracle (Fate of Wizardoms, #3). my ninth read from author Jeffrey L. Kohanek. Picks up seamlessly from the end of Balance of Magic (Fate of Wizardoms #2). Well-written with intricately developed characters you can invest heavily in and the storyline with its intricate twists & surprises as the tension & suspense ratchets up throughout the book’s length. 290 pages but reads even longer with the attention to detail written into the story. Kohanek’s fantasy worlds have become one of my favorite fantasy reads. I was impressed and enjoyed the vocal variety & inflections of narrator Travis Baldree. I look forward to reading Objects of Power (Fate of Wizardoms #4) when I get it. I was given an Audible copy of this book & am voluntarily reviewing it. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018)

A fun read with some fresh character portrayals
I liked these books though some of it felt like a collection of retread tropes. The "bad guys" are easily spotted and the good are maybe not so good? But all in all a good series to read.

entertaining but the characters could be more inspiring
(Spoilers) I enjoy Kohanek's books. There are entertaining and affordable. The same happens to the Fate of Wizardom except there are two things that make it not on the same level as The Buried Symbol. There is a lack of coherence and things that are not explained: the main characters are mainly responsible for the chaos starting in the kingdoms: the murder and the death of two wizards. But they seem completely oblivious of their own responsibility. Exactly the same with the people they meet. They ask others to do something appealing others' concerns. The characters are somehow shallow and morally not very inspiring. A princess who falls in love with the murderer of her father. A girl living for revenge. A wise man who seems to have all the control of everything and kill a wizard friend with poison for the "greater good".Between The Buried Symbol, the main characters were loyal, self-sacrificing, respectful of the person they love, not thinking of their own pleasures. Into the Fate of Wizardom, I didn't find the same attraction towards the characters, they seems to have more vices than virtues.

I recommend starting with box set vs just book 1
I was glad this was a three-book set as it took a while to develop the many characters and build this fantasy world. It would have been harder to like just getting the first book read. Now that I know this is a well-written saga in the making I can recommend it for anyone wanting something different. The magic system is unique, the world is recognizable but unfamiliar. There is a whole absolute power corrupts absolutely aspect of this world to quite a high degree so of course, our heroes have to balance it out. Plenty of surprises, twists and turns with a wildly diverse group of players, good, evil, and aloof. Thanks for the ride Jeffrey L. Kohanek

Great Sweep of Action
The story actually goes through almost all the cities on the map in a fast paced stream of action with beautiful young women and loathsome monsters—even a dragon makes a cameo appearance. There is quite a bit of character development; and as the author warns us in the prologue, it takes a while to distinguish the heroes from the villains (there are a couple about whom I am still not sure.) There are a lot of characters to the extent that I had trouble remembering them all especially since the author doesn’t mind killing off a few from time to time. But reading this story is time well spent.

An adventure of a journey
The first three stories are the start of an adventure. That takes the characters Rhoa, Jace, Narine, Adyn, Rawk and Salvon on a journey to save the world of evil that threatens life as all know it. Leading to other characters along the way of Brogan, Blythe and Algoron. Hold on tight because this adventure has already shown how dangerous and perilous it can be. With several twists and turns with some mystery and secrets yet to discover. And promises of more to come. I enjoyed this series so much I didn't write a review until I read the next 3 stories in the series because I didn't want them to end.I recommend this series wholeheartedly. I am voluntarily leaving an honest review of this book because I love to read and endorse an author's writing I enjoy without revealing to much of the story to not to ruin it for others.

A great new series from Jeffrey L Kohanek!
Having read this Author's other books l looked forward to this new series. I read the prequel and enjoyed it and l was not left disappointed when l started reading the books. A vast array of different characters with varying pasts and social statuses all joining together to save their world. Some great Villains too with subplots in the subplots making it all the more riveting to read.I cannot wait for the next book in the Series to continue my journey as part of the family. Would recommend to any fantasy reader!

Quite simply brilliant
I was hooked from the first chapter and totally engaged with the story. I’m 53 years of age and had the same feeling with this book as I did with the Shannara series back in the 80s.Every character, and by that I mean every character, is given time to shine, with their back story and personalities cleverly introduced and woven into the fabric of the story.Knowing how many books there are in the series fills me with anticipation already.I subscribed to the authors website and downloaded a free copy of one of the character side stories for free. Even though it’s only around 100 pages long, the depth it added to this initial introductory story on the series was incredible.Jeffrey Kohanek is an author I’ve only just discovered but is one I will be following closely from now on.All I can say is …if you are a fan of fantasy novels in a world that just begs to be explored, then invest in this series.

Excellent read exciting and funny sad and mystery.
Really enjoyed these books. Great value for first 3 in collection. I'm 69 and I enjoyed my granddaughter is 15 and she enjoyed reading them. 1st book introduces the characters so can take a while to recognise the main one's. After that the stories melt together and expand.
