Amazing light
I’ve never owned a nitecore flashlight, I’ve always gone surefire or streamlight but the closest surefire equivalent to this costs almost $130 more and doesn’t put out the same amount of lumens or candela for that matter.I chose to have an open mind and went with the nitecore and I’m very glad I did. The housing and tail cap button seem to be of very high quality. The tail clip will click kind of loud when you press it all the way in for sustained lighting. A lighter press is silent and the light will turn off when you let go of the button. The USB charger is a nice touch but I’d be concerned of that rubber plug maybe ripping or tearing off eventually. A lot of the major players in the flashlight industry seem to be going with integrated USB charging capability anyways so it’s probably been tested and evaluated.I love the programming button on this light, it’s simple and has memory so the flashlight will turn on to whatever was the last setting you had it on. It can be hard to find that button but you are probably not in a life or death situation if you are trying to switch through light modes (keep the flashlight on high). The highest output is impressive and I find the spill and hot spot perfect. Definitely bright enough to give you situational awareness but can still reach out and see things at distance. The battery life seems really nice, I’ve yet to run it down and it charges up fast. The battery is a 2150 so be ready to purchase extras if you are a hardcore user and don’t have a drawer full of them like the 18650s.All in all I’m pretty impressed with the value of this light and Nitecore might not have Surefire’s long reputation but they are getting a very good reputation with many high quality brands offering Nitecore accessories like batteries and/or chargers.UPDATE: 10 months later. Well, I’m going to eat my words here and say I wish I bought a SF or SL light. The Nitecore is bright and powerful but is already flickering, not a good sign and death is probably imminent. The worst part is that this light has lived a relatively easy life, in a holster on my belt 98% of the time and the other 2% on the charger getting topped off. I wish I would’ve saved for the other big name brand lights, I emailed Nitecore to see about a warranty replacement but this light a been reduced to a nightstand light and my surefire is going right back into the duty belt

Very pleased with this purchase!
Wanted a flashlight primarily that could last though the night with a decent amount of Lumens that was also easy to carry and have some of the options I'll probably never use (but just in case have anyway). What jumped out at me was the 1500 use for the 1 Lumen setting (yeah that's a thousand hours and 500 additional hours dumped on top like ice cream). After I ordered the thing I started to get paranoid that I'd been suckered into purchase by worthless hype and that the 1 Lumen setting was so low I probably couldn't use it for anything & it was just for bragging rights on how long the flashlight could last on one charge - I WAS WRONG!The fact is that the 1 Lumen setting is VERY usable for easily reading text and walking around in a safe place that's dark (like your own house or familiar trail, its enough light you can easily see where you are going AND you've got 1500 F'ing hours if you just kept it on that setting! I'm impressed enough with this flashlight I think Mom, Dad and Son are gonna get one next Christmas or Birthday! The other thing I really like is the number of settings that the MH12S has and the run times it offers - I'll go through them all. 1 Lumen @ 1500 hours /50 Lumens @ 45 hours /300 Lumens @ 7 hours & 15 minutes /1050 Lumens @ 3 hours & 15 minutes /1800 Lumens at 45 minutes. While 1800 Lumens is really cool and bright as hell I'm not sure what day to day applications there is for that much light other than Military, Law Enforcement or maybe checking way down the hiking trail for lurking Grizzly Bears. Nice to have if you find yourself needing it however. The one thing about the light that I don't necessarily care for is how the mode button was designed - don't get me wrong here, it works and cycles through the modes perfectly. I stayed up late last night to run around in the dark testing the flashlight and wanted the full impact so I used a pen light I had to get me into the woods about 20 feet and turned the MH12S on (I had programmed it to come on the lowest setting). With my finger I'm feeling for the damn button to increase the Lumen output but couldn't easily find it. I think with some time and use I'll have zero problem with that but that is literally the only knock I have on the light. It's an excellent, high quality powerhouse flashlight in a tiny body. Imagine squeezing a fully functional T-Rex into something the size of a mouse - that's what this light is. If you are looking for a military grade small flashlight that packs a vicious bite in the form of Lumen output as well as being able to last for 1500 hours at the lowest setting this light is worthy of your serious consideration.

Really bright but gets very hot
Pros-Really bright great for my profession. I use this torch in the day in low lit areas and the extra brightness is a excellent. It fits well in the hand and not too heavy for using for long periodsBattery life is excellentStrong and sturdyCons- Gets very hot really quickly on the brighter settings and really hot to hold. The on/off button has no protection so can turn on unintentionally if compressed accidentally. If that happens in a bag or something it could potentially cause a fire. I wear mine on my belt in a velcro type holder and has switched on getting into my vehicle and has melted the holder.
