Buffy the Vampire Slayer Vol. 6 (Volume 6): Secrets of the Slayer
G**N
Nothing really happens
A flashback that explains a bit of Anya's backstory and then a flashback that explains some of Faith's story. Meanwhile Buffy eats ice cream and Willow continues to mope. A series that started off really well is treading water narratively.Art is inconsistent but looks great in places.
N**Y
Deeply confusing
“Buffy the Vampire Slayer – Secrets of the Slayer” collects issues #21 & #22, along with “Faith” #1 – a 40-page story. The two Buffy issues start in the middle of something, and I’ve forgotten what has been going on recently, The first issue is the secret origin of Anya, who appears to be a ‘retired’ Watcher, among other things, and reveals long-running secret plots by the Watcher Council, and against them. The second issue shows us three slayers at work, who capture a tiny demon with links to Xander, Willow wandering around as an astral projection, and a tea-party at Giles’ as Wesley the Watcher and Robin Wood (“cough”) the other other Watcher sit around and plot stuff, before everyone gets together to plot some more.It is all very confusing, but in a very good war, and the art is tolerable also. The ‘Faith’ story is a sort of flashback story that is not quite a secret origin, but is, and also reveals more of the dubious activities of the Watchers where young ladies with powers above and beyond those of mortal men are involved.I really, really want to know what happens next.
