Kiddy Platter Placemat & Craftmat (Pink Bubblegum)

I bought this despite reading reviews here about cracks developing in short periods of time, and I regret that decision. It's a good idea and much more affordable than the stokke version. I love that you can change out images underneath and it's general dimensions. So I decided to baby this tray to see if I could prevent it from cracking. When it arrived there was a small note attached that directed me to hand wash this in cold water only, which made me think the company knew there was a problem with durability. So I followed the instructions carefully and have only hand washed it in cold water. We use this for our older baby, who isn't rough with it at all. Still within two months a crack developed exactly where it was described to develop by others (about an inch and a half long, at the center of the clear part on the wrist rest part). How disappointing to have spent the extra time caring for this only to have it break down in a short time. We still used it for a month with the crack to see if it would get worse or stay the same. It has progressivey gotten much longer and isn't really usable after only 4-5 months.In retrospect I shouldn't have ordered anything that would have such fussy wash instructions for everyday use.

Yes, the other reviewers are telling the truth: These trays don't last very long. They tend to crack if they aren't washed carefully. BUT even a cracked one is better than any other trays: They don't slide, they have a great crumb tray, and we never found anything like them.

I read the reviews and knew about the crack that develops but thought if I take really really good care of it I would somehow beat the odds. No. I didn't. About a month after we started using it the crack showed up and slowly made its way to both ends. We've had it for only 3 months and over that time it slowly divided itself in half. The ou reason I'm giving. It 2 stars instead of 1 is because it was actually quiet useful and prevented many disasters during its short lifespan. I will therefore splurge and invest in the more expensive version.I didn't bother calling the manufacturer because per reviews they're not willing to replace the damaged product. I hope they get the message soon and change their materials.

We have a wood table and had a separate glass cover custom made to protect the wood... however our messy toddler was still able to get food/liquid in between the glass and the actual table. When food would dry in between the glass and the wood, it would peel off some of the finish when being cleaned. Regular placemats were useless because there was no "overhang" to prevent food from entering into that space. The Kiddy Platter does just that. I agree that it doesn't completely stay in place, so it may not be most effective for younger children, but for toddlers and older, it is fantastic.

I love this placemat!! We have a wooden table w/glass top and kept getting liquid/crumbs inbetween when our toddler at her meals... but with this placemat and the detachable lip - I have had not had ANY problems! It is great for cleaning that it comes apart --- also the lip keeps my little girls clothes cleaner. and the red trim around the edging really does keep it in place! I had an issue with some watermarks that would not come off and the company responded and replaced our placemat asap. SO GREAT, LOVE IT!

I like the design well enough, but dishwasher safe needs to be defined. I've had two and the rubber edge has peeled off around both. One has also obtained a sizable crack all the way through. Customer service was extremely slow to respond, although, I suppose to their credit, they finally agreed to replace it.

Nice multi-purpose solution. Both a placemat that's so easily cleaned up and dishwasher safe and it's its own educational/entertainment center. Rubberized edges make it slide resistant so it will stay in place.

This is my second Kiddy Platter (formerly the Piggy Platter). I ended up throwing my old one out after a few years, because the design led to water being trapped in the edges leading to mold. I was hesitant in replacing with the same product, but I researched the new design before purchasing. It has worked great to contain the (extreme) meal time messes of my 2 year old and the new design is great. The edges are completely covered on both sides so that they are sealed tight. This tray combined with the Baby Bjorn molded bib keeps a LOT of food contained and off my kitchen floor at each meal. I would highly recommend.
