So easy to use!
I expected to fail miserably at making sushi, even with this handy device. Well, it was so easy to use & made pretty perfect rolls for me. I followed the instructions loading the yellow side with my rice (I just used calrose with extra water to make it sticky). Then I added an asparagus spear, covered it with some rice, closed the device & shook it a bunch until it looked like it was in a nice roll. Then I slid the wrap in the slot & shook. This was the only place it got dicey, but I think that was because the first time I just shook it like a maniac. The second time, I tried to shake it in one rolling direction & got better results. I will actually use this thing a lot!I used Sushi Party sesame soy wrappers (had to cut them in half to fit in this roller).

Great stuff
Bought this in March 2016, my wife and family liked it so much, that when my wife went to Japan for business she bought 10 more to give out as gifts. The Plastic is thick and very durable, we still use it, the only thing is that the size of the sushi is about a third of the size at the most that you would normally buy from a restaurant. But to us that's okay, we have fun making more, it's also easier for kids to eat the whole thing.Everyone seemed to have an easy time doing this shake, shake and shake thing, and then putting in the Nori with no problems ... except me. Even our 4 year old granddaughter at the time showed off to me.I had the hardest time trying to figure this out, talk about coordination ... sheesh. Well after a month, I realized I was overly pounding the rice when I was shaking it and had a hard time not shaking it so hard where it wouldn't be oblong or flatter on one side. No I'm not Hercules, it's just so light. I figured out a way to do it, even when it is slightly over stuffed. Shake it quite a bit with the yellow side down as normal, then flip it over (white side down) and hold up no less then 45 degrees. This will keep it in the round area of the clear top and then shake it again. The rice will be more rounded, turn it back over and then insert the nori keeping the yellow portion horizontal to the floor as you shake the nori in.

Great gadget.
I like this little gadget. I've been making musubi with shiso furukaki and nori. It's quick to make with a couple flicks of the wrist. Small bitesize pieces are great when you eat on-the-go, as a snack in your purse, or when making small things is your thing. You could add a lot of things to your musubi, but make sure you chop them small so it fits. Don't add too much rice or the musubi will not roll nicely in this gadget.Fortunately, I bought two of these to last me a whilte. Clean up is a breeze. Not sure if this is BPA free.

Easy to roll sushi but not sure how to wrap in seaweed
I love using this product to make sushi rolls. Put a layer of sticky rice on bottom (I make mine in pressure cooker with rice vinegar and honey, then re-heat before use), add whatever ingredients you want (I like crab, smoked trout/salmon, shredded carrots, sliced cucumber, cream cheese, etc), then add another layer of rice. close & shake to make it all stick together in a tight roll. I can't quite figure out how to get the seaweed to wrap around the roll IN the shaker. I just take the rice roll and put on top seaweed and roll - I use soy sauce to seal the edge. All in all, easy to make homemade sushi!

Shake Shake Shake = Masterpiece Sushi Roll
Hello! Having moved back from Japan, I was on edge about spending $7-$10 on a product worth $1 at DAISO, but by living far away, you got to pay up.Although, I'm still surprised how even cheap items can work so well. We first tried it with plain rice(brown/white mix) but it didn't work well, then I made it into sushi rice, which worked better, formed the shape and sucked it the nori(seaweed) :P I think it takes practice, but you'll get the hang of it. At first, when it didn't form well, I thought I shook it to many times, but no, making it into sushi rice added more binding, especially since it was mixed with brown rice.Anyways, I don't particularly regret the purchase, but if it was cheaper, I'd order more than one so my whole family can ぶりぶり all day long :P

Not good for long grain rice.
I saw it work on a Dancing Bacons video, on YouTube, but I couldn't get mine to work at all. Maybe I used the wrong type of rice (I used long grain instead of short). I'll try it with sushi rice later and edit my review.

great for kids!
I've seen this product on youtube videos, and thought it was so cool! I bought it because I needed to try it for myself. Very easy to use, and easy cleanup. You can just use regular rice (sushi rice is not required)Wet the shaker a little, and pour the excess water out. Put the rice in and shake, add more rice if necessary. Once it is in a roll shape, just insert the nori through the hole (may have to cut to fit size), and it goes in so easily! Never seen something so cool. Easy clean up too. My son can even do it himself and has so much fun doing it.
