Issues with a Vantec enclosure
I ran into a weird problem trying to use this cable while testing out a clone drive mounted in a new Vantec enclosure with an esata port. Because my computer at the time did not have an esata port, I tried connecting the esata port of the enclosure to the sata port on the motherboard with this cable. It didn't work. Somehow the enclosure didn't sense it was connected to a live computer so it didn't power up the drive. Replacing this cable with the esata cable that came with the enclosure in series with an (Amazon) inexpensive esata bracket plus cable (just hanging in air) and the enclosure came alive, the drive was recognized. I don't know if the problem was the cable or the enclosure's power up/dn sensing is just sensitive and got faked out. I suspect the latter because physically the cable looked fine.

Internal Type to External Type
I connected this cable to an internal SATA DVD-RW drive and out an opened slot plate to an eSATA port off the rear motherboard IO panel; my other 7 internal sata ports are used by Hard Drives. Cable was a little snug on both ends due to the fact neither the eSATA port nor DVD drive had EVER been used (snug is better than loose). I unplugged both ends and the 2nd time the cable went in perfectly fine on each end. DVD drive was recognized and functioning without rebooting. This cable from gamesalor is perfect. Exactly as pictured. It was at least 36 inches long (or possibly 37 as described).I have never found this cable in a brick-and-morter store in the US anywhere, and online it is $7-12 on any other website. I like this listing for the price...if your patient.I ordered this product from the seller gamesalor (free shipping). Item shipped immediately, with tracking number, and took 6 business days from overseas. Didn't bother me a bit eliminating the middle man. We all know where these cables are manufactured.

looks great, really durable, very stiff
I bought this to connect my computer to an extarnal SATA drive dock. It has both USB and ESATA ports. I have been using the USB port but recently added an ESATA port to the computer. I had trouble connecting the cable, in part because it's a very stiff cable but also both ports are ESATA. I foolishy didn't check both ports. I can connect the ESATA end to either port still need to wrestle the with cable. Note to self: before ordering a new cable, look to see what you need :)

Genius product, very convenient.
If you have a bunch of old internal hard drives and an eSATA port, this works exactly as you'd want it to. It is so much faster than a USB 2.0 to HDD adapter and just as convenient. No need to open your case and unbolt a HDD then bol. t in and connect another. Just unplug the eSATA and power cable of the HDD sitting on top of my case and plug in the other. The best part is that it can be done while the computer is running and it will detect the HDD just like it would a thumb drive. I have about 10 old HDD that are all about 80-300 GB each which I can now use like thumb drives for whatever I need them for. Best $4 I spent in a while. I have another eSATA port, I might be getting another soon.

Cheap cable, poor performance
I gave two stars because I did manage to transfer my data off of my old hard drive with the cable, but I could not leave it plugged in and operating for very long. It would somehow work itself loose in the eSATA slot all on it's own and cause my computer to freak out. I later purchased a proper eSATA cable and enclosure and haven't had any of the issues I experienced from using this cable.I wouldn't call this cable reliable, but it will work in a pinch, which is what I had purchased it for.

GREAT. Check item descripton
Hey, it is a cable; Worked great for my use.Fast shipping and works well. The description is obvious, but maybe someone else will skim past it.It goes from a standard internal notch/keyedinternal SATA TO the now current external (flat) eSATA connection.Great for adding eSATA based on internal connectors. Most add on SATA cards (PIC/PCIe) support this, your motherboardmay or may not depending on BIOS settings and capability. Note - you NOT may be able to boot if you change BIOS settings,so be aware; NOT a problem related to this cable so if you don't change the BIOS non issue. You probably need to thread this out the back of the computer. There are some older computers that have back panel standard SATA connections, and this is especially good for those setups.
