Cannon 2207001 Tab Lock Quick Mount Base, Black Composite

I have a pair of downriggers and use these bases, I've broken two bases - one from snagging a ball on a reef, and the other when the cable got caught in my kicker. I was lucky not to lose the downrigger on both occasions - when it snagged the reef I grabbed the DR and held it until the cable broke. That was with 180lb stainless cable.Unfortunately if the base were stronger, the downrigger might break instead, so it's better to have this cheap part break instead of the downrigger, but IMO the downrigger should be tied to a cleat with a short piece of rope as a safety precaution, and the rod-holder on the downrigger should not be used so the rod doesn't go overboard if the DR snaps off.

good sturdy bracket had to modify it a little to fit gunnels works great for my lake trolls

This was very easy to mount because the pre-drilled holes lined up with the rest of the Cannon system. I can mount and dismount my down-rigger is seconds.

Buyer beware. Be careful. The ad post claims this base will work with the Cannon Sports Troll model downrigger. It won't.The slots on this base are too deep for the base thickness on the Sports Troll allowing it to ride up above the lock in latch on this base and fall out of the tab lock base and overboard. Bye Bye downrigger. I don't Know if it will work on other Cannon models or not.

Works Just fine without any trouble. I feel that for a molded plasic braket that it should be cheaper however. The downrigger can not be used without this so you pretty much stuck paying whatever they charge.

The base was what I needed for the downriggers, I ordered 2 but one of them it wouldn't clip to hold the downriggers in place, had to file down the edge a bit and then it worked. Also got stainless steel bolts with it but they forgot the washers and nuts. The delivery was fast I had it within 3 days.

We do own a pair of these down rigger bases and bought new ones as a gift. Easy to install, reliable and durable.

Very tight tolerance had to file it to get moulding ridge out so it would workPlease ensure the tab is up and locked or yo could loose your complete down rigger
