Learning about the Afghanistan war
Dee Henderson has written some wonderful books. This one is different and slow. Instead of the characters interacting, they write letters. Nice letters, but still letters. The female protagonist is a jet fighter pilot and that is interesting. She is shot down. The description of that and her subsequent rescue is okay. The male and female characters show little heat in their relationship, something that jumps up now and then in Henderson's writing, especially her later works. It's almost as if she's afraid of the emotion she might stir in herself. The information given here about the war and the armed forces, our men and women overseas and what they do is wonderful and, I think, thoughtfully researched--which was why I kept reading. I would love to give this a 4 or 5 because Henderson is a good writer, but the story line and the lack of emotion in the characters make that hard.

Suspenseful
This story was difficult to read because of the storyline of what our men and women of the military go through. These heroes of our country are beyond ordinary. This story has all the elements of suspense, intrigue, faith and many twists and turns and one very special love story. I commend and admire and I'm thankful for the sacrifice of these men and women and their families for what they have to endure to protect our country. Although this story is fiction I know what Dee Henderson wanted to portray and she did it well.

New appreciation for the military
Wow! This was an emotional book! Not because of the romance and not necessarily because of the storyline. It was the realization of everything the military personnel goes through to keep us safe.Although I gave the book 5 stars, the storyline, romance, and characters, were more along the lines of 4 stars. The emotional depth of the book was worthy of 5 stars. The book was a little difficult to get into, in the beginning; characters hard to follow and bond with. There was a lot of military terms that were hard for me to understand - guys would enjoy that part of the book. The majority of the "romance" took place in letters, written thousands of miles apart. But you really felt the emotions the characters were feeling. Good and bad. When Gracie's plane went down and Bruce found her, I was in tears. The emotions were that strong. Same with the homecoming after each deployment. There was a bonus second romance in this book. Wolf, from book 1, and Jill, the only civilian in this story. We also got to see a few snippets of Bear and Kelly, from book 1.Don't let the emotions keep you from reading this book. The required happily-ever-after ending is there, as is the romance. It will give you a new appreciation of military life. Good and bad.Looking forward to book 3.

A read that grows on you.
Having read all of Ms Henderson's books I especially like the first book in this series,TRUE DEVOTION. What made this new one in her military sereis a bit unique is the love grows through the strength of the letters our couple exchange while together and apart: she serving in the Navy and he in the Air Force. That they are both some of the time on very similar missions in the same part of the world allows for an incredibly dramatic rescue that is sure to keep the reader on the edge of their seat. In true Inspirtational Romance fashion there is no intimacy, however the sexual tension is there but more importantly so is the development of love for each other with their reliance on their faith. What I especially like about all of Ms Henderson's books is that the characters are well steeped in their own spiritual faiths or their journey toward that end. She doesn't preach to the reader and her characters are not there as a means of converting the reader. Their spirituality is who they are and as characters searching for that one true love they rely on their spirituality to make it happen. Because of this Ms Henderson's books could easily stand side by side any single title romance that was not Christian based and hold her own in the development of the couple's search for that one true love. That through this series she has chosen to have her characters be in the military and in locations right off the front page news makes it that much more enjoyable.I look forward to reading the next installment in this series and the O'Malley series. I am assured with future offerings of excellent reads which will allow me, the reader to identify with the individual journey toward faith and love through her incredible characters and interesting plots. Her research is impeccable.I wish more romance readers would take the time to throw off their misunderstandings about Inspirational Romances, they can start by reading the reigning Queen of Classic Inspirationals...Dee Henderson. No one in the this sub genre does it better than Dee Henderson.

Excellent book!
Excellent choice of books; #2 of a 4 book series; I read this before before & was looking forward to owning the full set for myself (a birthday present to myself). Kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time (yes, even though I was re-reading & knew what happened). Dee Henderson is one of my most favorite authors. I really look forward to purchasing more of her books. These are not books for young children who can't understand tough situations.

Remarkable book!
True Valor by Dee Henderson is a remarkable Christian novel. It is the second book in this series and it is awesome in my opinion. The author weaves the suspense/action/love story so beautifully. I particularly loved how Grace and Bruce's relationship developed through letters, emails, and phone calls during their deployment. Their was something so genuine about the value these characters had for appreciating every moment. Each moment they made count because they never knew if it would be their last. Cherishing your loved ones and not taking the little things for granted is a great message. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who loves awesome Christian fiction. You will appreciate the Bible verses that Grace and Bruce write to each other as their relationship grows. Some great life lessons.

Dee Henderson Fanatic!
I LOVE Dee Henderson! I probably have most of her books. The uncommon heroes books are the last of the books for hers that I haven't read. Have to admit I haven't enjoyed them as much as the others. My favourite being the O'Malley series, love love love those! Either way it was still a good read and I enjoyed this book, if you're a Dee Henderson fan, you won't be disappointed.

These Heroes could be people I know
Down to earth ordinary folk doing extraordinary thinks through conviction, faith and love. Well crafted and the story keeps moving. Read it all on the day purchased (sat up late into the night to finish it) as it held me all the way through.

True Valid: 2 (Uncommon Heroes)
What a special story. I was so into the story line that I thought I know the characters and want to related to them. I cried when Gracie and her plane crashed. I was so relieved when she lived. I know it's crazy to be so emotionally involved in pa story that you think it is real. But this series does that to me. I does my heart good that the military personnel in this series believe so strongly in God. Thank you so much Dee for writing this series. Please write more.
