Beautiful
I am so glad I chose this book to read. I couldn’t put it down. It made me think about my own mother that’s been gone over 30 years. Not a day goes by that I don’t think of her.

A cathartic journey through grief.
I enjoyed the narrative of a mid-western family. All families are not the same. This is evident in the book. I didnt know if I would like the format, writing letters. It was very nicely done and made me feel as though I personally know the family. Thank you , Mary, for sharing a most personal journey through grief.

This beautiful Memoir of her mother Betty!
I read this wonderful book in 4 sittings and cried each time. After losing my own elderly mother 2 years ago, it was reassuring that my sisters and I also made the right choices. We all walk these paths on our journey in this life. It was wonderful to know that life can still be joyful and you can still learn more about yourself and family in the end. I will continue to follow and read anything from this author. Thank you Mary, I was blessed.

So so
It was too much about the author not her mother and at the end just about her father's life. So so

I couldn't put it down
This book is a gorgeously written narrative of grief, love, imperfection, grace, and redemption through family relationships. I could not put it down, even with all my kids running around my house during snow days. I am someone who usually takes months to read a book because of work and children keeping me so busy I can't find the time. But the time found me with this book. I loved it and finished it in two days. As a single mother, I found so much of my life echoed in Betty's... and found great hope and peace in the narrative of deep love, acceptance, and devotion in Betty's children and family. It was healing to read and I know I will find myself recommending this to others and going back to it myself in the future.

well-written family story
This book tells the story of a family determined to support one another over the years and the love for a mother who worked hard to raise her children on her own. I read this book in two days. Love, loss, growth and the continuity of family are the major themes.

Thought-provoking journey
Thank you, Mary, for sharing your journey in such an open and thoughtful way. Your vulnerability to share such a personal journey and your ability to weave a tale that is both raw and refined make this a thought-provoking read. Memoirs always make me reflective, but yours inspires me to show more compassion, ask more questions, and listen better.
