As others have mentioned, they are too thin to use as pot holders for more than a few seconds.

USEFUL!! EFFICIENT!...and oh so GREEN!This Multipurpose Silicone Pot Holder/Coaster is, in my opinion, an ABSOLUTE MUST HAVE for every kitchen! I paid a LOT of money re-doing my kitchen and I want it to stay looking like that way! I was raised by my Mom to never ever cut on a counter, to always use a cutting board. To never place a hot pot directly on a counter, to always use a coaster or pot holder. I was also raised to never ever put a glass or bowl directly on anything wooden as it will get water stained. So basically as you can see, in my home we always protect what we have!This green coaster is so PRACTICAL! It can be used under pots on the counter, it can double as a coaster for drinks, and even be the coaster for your hot dips. I, for one, find leaving this Waffle-like Multipurpose Silicone Coaster on the kitchen counter, not only brightens up my kitchen but also stays out in the open where it is easy to grab. The feature I admire most is the high quality 100% SAFE food grade silicone material which is also a heat resistant mat.I have found other uses for this Silicone Pot Holder/Coaster...I have learned that if you put garlic cloves and rub it between the coaster, it will automatically peel. I have used this to grip onto hard to open jars and have them pop right open. I have also used this as a grippy to hold onto the hot handles when I am draining pasta. This Multipurpose Silicone Pot holder/coaster is an absolute wonder in my kitchen! It is easy to clean and DURABLE! I love using this it is very handy to grab when you need something quickly. To place under a hot item. You can even use this when you need to pick some hot out of the oven. I do believe every household needs one or 2 of these handy to have in their house.It can be use for a lot holder to grab a lot of of the stove,no holes through the Mat it is double on both sides. So you know you will not burn your hand. . And with being green lime green you can spot it quickly to grab .......I recieved this item for free in exchange for my unbiased and honest review.

They are very thin. They were the style I wanted (raised bumps on both sides) but turned out to be too thin. They are functional as a jar opener, but I don't know that I would use them as a "hot pad", unless you stacked 2 of them together.

The silicon pads are thinner than I expected but this is a good price for 3. Concerned about sturdiness but seems to protect from heat as pot holder
