Refurbished by Amazon had attractive price
Was delighted to find renewed unit sold at less than half the retail price (which is high because the CM1150 is the only Xfinity approved "customer owned" modem offering phone VOIP as well.Using Xfinity phone app, I was able to set up and activate this modem quite easily. My phone service worked and I measure internet service at 800mb/s... per my Xfinity plan. I streamed a movie that night.. No sweat. I was about to take my original Xfinity Gateway back to the store when suddenly I noticed internet was struggling. eg. my wife was on zoom chat that was halting. I was using google translate and it was taking a minute to do simple translations. Within 2 hours, all internet was dead. Phone stopped working too.I unplugged the CM1150. Put outside to quickly cool. All to no avail. Re-starting failed to get any functionality back.I then re-activated my Xfinity gateway box. (BTW: That cannot be fully completed using Xfinity App. Phone worked, but internet data was inoperable. That's because special "codes" at their office must be reset before Xfinity will deliver broadband data to that original Gateway modem. Only a live chat session or getting an agent on the phone can get this done). Once up and running, the Xfinity gateway was working normally and reliably.I'm going to hazard a guess. This COULD be an issue of marginal signal strength over the Comcast cable. I am skeptical anything actually broke in the Netgear CM1150. I've had the Xfinity gateway for 2 years and internet loss was only very occasional. My hunch is that the Xfinity equipment may work better as depleted signal levels. I'll probably hold onto the Netgear modem and re-try it in a month- would prefer not to pay the $15/mo rent.UPDATE (2.21.2024)I've been monitoring signal levels in the Xfinity connection status. The signal strength in my family room location is lousy... varying between -15 dBmV and -10 dBmV depending on day, time of day.,etc.I built up a location to place the cable modem very close to my home's Xfinity cable ingress & powered distribution box in my basement, running CAT5 + Phone wire to first floor wall jacks for router & phone base. The Xfinity Gateway experienced 3 - 4X higher downstream signals at the basement location compare to distant family room. Then reinstalled & activated the Netgear CM1150 . Everything came up working within minutes. With just 3 feet 75 ohm coax to the CM1150 from Comcast powered splitter, signal levels between -3 and +1 dBmV are reported by the CM. That's plenty of margin to deal with daily variations that will be in 5 dBmV range. Feeling confident I can dispense with the Xfinity equipment and rely on the Netgear CM.Revising my rating to 5*. Very pleased!

Couldn't self-activate on Spectrum, but a quick call fixed the issue
This renewed modem was such a bargain compared to new. I wanted to upgrade my internet to Gig internet and needed to upgrade my modem. Bought this renewed version (it looks like new) and I am glad I did. While I was unable to self-activate on the Spectrum activation site due to an unknown error on their end, I called and they activated it within a minute or two. I don't have any problems with it and am now enjoying 900Mbps+ speeds. Yaay.

Works with optimum/easy setup
Got fed up with the supplied router modem combo from optimum and upgraded to this. One phone call and was set up easy. WiFi works great now, paired it with a netgear nighthawk XR1000 and can load all the videos I could wish for. First time I have bought a refurbished product and this has not disappointed me yet

Quit working in less than 3 months
Bought this modem refurbished and labeled as in excellent condition. The modem had a 90 day warranty also. It worked good with no problems for just under 3 months. I started having internet connection problems. The ISP came and checked all the cables, The internet was back. Then it would connect intermittently. I called the ISP again. This time they did some tests which were OK, except for the speed test through the modem. The speed test through the cable was fine, but the modem wouldn't connect. After determining the modem went bad, I called the Netgear rep to check on the warranty. By this time I was 12 days past my 3 months because of the 2 cable provider visits. I explained all this to the Netgear rep.He told me there was nothing they could do since it was past the 90 days. He wanted to sell me a plan which would cost me $169.99 and we could try to get it working that way. The plan also covered other electronics in the home. They had already gotten $99 from me on a faulty modem. I had to buy a new modem. this one from another company and it's been working flawlessly, so far. Be careful if your considering buying refurbished electronics from Amazon.

Refurbished and working very good; but not for household use unless you have two ip addresses.
I purchased this as it has 4 WAN Ethernet connections; but you are not able to use more than one, unless you purchase another ip address from your internet provider. I would not have purchased this if I knew this is more for a business application with multiple ip addresses. Otherwise the cable modem works great. I connect to our router which has 4 ethernet cables in use plus the wifi from the router and most everything works really well. We usually have 9 devices receiving signal most of the afternoon and evening. Sometimes a couple more. Downloads are speedy; no buffering on our Roku; almost always a strong signal from the router. Hard wire downloads to my pc are at our max speed from our ISP. NetGear makes quality products. I am happy. I have used 3 or 4 NetGear modem router setups over the years and always been satisfied with the performance.

Xfinity - slowness after a few months
I am writing this review to help anyone that has experienced slowness on Xfinity after a few months.I previously had a modem that was giving me issues. I was paying for 800 megs, but wasn't only getting 5-40 depending on the day. I tried different methods of troubleshooting, and determined it was from the modem. I then purchased this modem renewed which worked flawlessly for a few months. It was also time for an upgrade, so I figured why not. After a few months, I started experiencing the same issues as my last modem... Slow speeds with nothing really helping. The speeds would be normal right after a reboot, but then dip low after a few minutes. I noticed this time that it happened after an outage, and thinking back that's when my previous one started becoming slow. I thought what the heck this must be an Xfinity issue, so I called Xfinity to remove this CM1200 from my account. I then re-added and... BAM. Everything back to normal. It has been working fine since. I'm hoping this helps someone who is experiencing the same issues with Xfinity.TLDRIf you're having issues with performance (speed) and have Xfinity, try removing the device and re-activating the modem again.
