A great set! A must have for Galaxy Squad fans...
This, my friends is what Legos are all about!. I was really into the good guy sets for Galaxy Squad, the vehicles are great. When I saw this set on sale for $45, I figured it'd be worth it and I was blown away at how great this set is.First off, the look of the set is spot on, it looks and feels like a creepy spider. Secondly, the set has a good play factor. It can catapult those little bug eggs across the battlefield. There is also a great mechanism that makes the legs move that is just genius. The set also comes with a cool GS speeder and droid companion. This set looks great on my shelf...after building it I at first thought it was too small, but after having it for a few weeks, there is nothing wrong with this set at all. It looks cool, has some great play features, comes with a great small vehicle and it really captures the obvious spider look they were shooting for.pros-awesome looking sethigh play value for kidsgreat small set included ( I love those GS minifig weapons! )cons-maybe price? ( I got it on sale here for $45..a fantastic value )

Ingenious
My kids and I have built many lego sets together. This has to be one of the most epic sets we have ever built. When you push the bug crawler, the legs move like a real bug. Check youtube to see a demo. The set was very satisfying and challenging for an adult who wants to build with their younger children (age 8 and 4). I do not believe that my 8 year old would have been able to build this set without some assistance, however, the enjoyment of challenging sets like these is to spend time together and bond. My girls loved it.As a side note, due to the movable mechanisms for the legs, the infrastructure of this bug is almost entirely LEGO technic. You see pieces like rubber bands, ball head joints, and other ingenious pieces that make this bug come to life when you push it. It is definitely not your typical build.Final note - This is optional, however, with big sets like these you always get some extra small pieces incase you lose some. I used the two translucent extra pink circular "dots" to reinforce the "back of the head" piece you build on page 30 of instruction booklet 2. I felt the back of the head was prone to fall off when handled and became loose when pushed on its sides. Putting two pegs under the side corners cleared this up even though they don't fit inside the model. (you'll see what I mean).Great product. 5 stars.

The Best LEGO kit ever!
This was purchased for my 7 yr. old grandson who loves LEGOs and is very adept at following the instructions and assembling the objects by himself. It took him approx. 3 - 4 hours to complete the kit. The result was one of the BEST LEGO objects ever! The hive crawler has legs that move in a realistic way, is colorful, and really cool! It can propel egg-like balls that break open and contain a grub inside. These elements are the kind of things boys really like. There are also people and another vehicle included with the kit. Definitely, a great LEGO and worth every cent.

Great Set! Fun to build and play with!
Excellent set! My 7 year old is a big fan of the Galaxy Squad line and he recently got this set for his birthday. Since putting it together it has gotten a lot of play time. It has some great play features--including the egg launcher and the self-moving legs! For the money--this is a truly fantastic set! A little challenging to build for a 7 year old--but he managed to do it with only very minimal help from Dad!

For being the "queen alien" of this product line, this model is a bit too small. Still, it looks cool and is worth picking up!
LEGO had a space-themed collection out about 15 years ago called Insectoids. This line reminds me a bit of that older line, since it has many insect-themed models. While I think I liked the Insectiod set (overall) better than the Galaxy Squad sets, There are some things I prefer in this collection. For instance:1. The colors are better on these models. The Insectiods were black, blue and yellow. While that looks cool and all, I find a lot more green and red bugs in my world than black and blue bugs.2. The mini-fig model are cooler. These mini-fig aliens have lots of different head pieces that give them each a specific and very alien look. They are of greater diversity and look better than the alien helmets in the Insectiod line.3. Opposing factions are present. In the Galaxy Squad set, you have two separate factions - the human and robot heroes and the evil alien insects who are trying to capture them. The old Insectoid line had many different models, but they were ALL alien insects with no one to fight against. Kids always like it better when they can create battles with two opposing sides, and this line provides that opportunity. In fact many of the larger models from this collection include both factions inside the one large box, so kids can start their imaginary conflicts right from the start.I like this set a lot. The large alien bug machine is a bit smaller than what I think it should have been, but it is still a decent set, and one most any boy should enjoy building and playing with.

The perfect christmasgift for my 11 year old.
This was a great purchase. MY 11 year ols son generally loves all Lego so I did not worry too much regarding my choice of his gift. However this bug really exceeded our expectation. He had fun assembling it but the functionality was a nice surprize, when moved along the floor the feet will lift and hit the floor again also the eyes and mouth are fun. All together very happy with the purchase.
