Tough locks for any purpose
Very easy to change the combination, and opens very easily. I use them in a pair of Rigid boxes, so they fit perfectly and work very well to get my boxes locked. The numbers could be a bit darker so that I can see them in the early mornings, but the color is just fine, as long as I use a light. They feel heavy, so I'm sure they are very durable and will last for quite some time.

Almost 7 years later still going strong
I beams out in my yard and noticed the two padlocks on my gates. I open them about 4 or 5 times a year and don’t oil the padlock or do any maintenance. They’re just left out in the weather year round and they always work. When I saw them today I realized it had been a long time since I bought them and thought how nice it is that a product actually lasts and I don’t have to think about it ever, much less replace it. So I looked it up and I bought both in August 2018 and here it is almost 7 years later and they still work great and don’t show any signs of wear besides some minor fading. That is what I call a fine product and there aren’t too many out there nowadays since everything became disposable, so I wanted to write this long overdue review since it’s so remarkable to me. Now I will say, they cost $9.49 back in 2018 so the price has doubled, which isn’t great, but that’s the way of things too nowadays so there’s no sense complaining I’m just really happy there are a few solid products still being made out there, and this lock is definitely one of them.

Superb Lock
Great Lock, combination is easily turned, shackle is thick(not easily cut) and made heavy duty material! Perfect idea that you must have a key to change the combination(even if left open the combination can not be changed unless the key is engaged). Note you must have at least one of the combination numbers moved to a different number than the set combination in order to close the shackle(shackle will not close and lock with combination is in the correct order) also when turned to the correct combination the shackle must be depressed in order to release.*** check the size of the area/hole that the shackle will be place, this one is thick.

Seems decent, use a few drops of oil occasionally if outside, factory code is 0-0-0-0, not L-O-C-K
We recently purchased a garden shed and I replaced the anemic keyed lock that came with it with a surface-mount lock that has a user-selectable code. We have a smaller deck box with a padlock on it, but in the interest of being able to open both of these without needing to go back inside to get the key, I bought this lock so I could set its code to the same code for the shed. It arrived with the normal Amazon Prime speed and seemed like a beefy lock. I'll likely take some of the other reviewers' comments to heart and add a drop or two of oil to it every so often since it's relatively exposed to the elements. Why did I knock off a star? Well, the card that's in the package explains how to open the lock and set the code to my desired value. Step one of those instructions? Set the combination to L-O-C-K. Beautiful. Except for one problem: the lock uses digits (0-9), not letters. The lock was on 0001, and that didn't open it, so tried a few combinations like 1111, and 1234, until I tried 0000 and that opened it. It would have been funny to buy a lock that I couldn't open. I guess that's the epitome of security, huh?Once I got the lock open, changing the code with the provided tool was pretty easy.I took it out to the deck box and found that the shackle is larger in diameter than that of the old padlock that I had on there, so I spent some time reaming out the shackle hole. While that may have decreased the overall strength of the system, I didn't want to continue hunting for a smaller-diameter padlock with a user-selectable code and, realistically, if someone wants what's inside, it's a plastic deck box and they could find another way in by bypassing the lock.

Solid locks
I haven't put the locks to use yet but out of the box, the locks are heavy and sturdy. Setting the 4-digit pin is very easy to do with the included reset key. Now, I won't have to worry about finding a key to unlock the side gates.

Outside with you.
Have this lock outside for a few years and it been holding up pretty good. Maybe like once or twice numbers were a little stuck so I just hit with a little bit of lube. Oh yah. It haven't had to do that for like a year or so. I get all seasons where I'm at so very cold temps and warm temps.

Simple To Use, Surviving Phoenix Heat
Have a few of these outdoors (in Phoenix heat) on various things and most importantly my tool shed. They work great and I like not having to keep track of keys. My oldest of the locks saw roughly 5 years of shed door duty and I just recently replaced it after the locking mechanism began acting up on a consistent basis — issue was occurring after scrambling the combo it should lock closed with a simple press but it was no longer catching the mechanism without holding the shackle into lock body and then would have to proceed to scramble the combo at the same time for it to catch, still worked but got tired of it and finally just replaced. Haven't noticed signs of rust on any of them at any point. Maybe once a year I spurt some silicone lubricating spray into the mechanism to keep the action smooth. Definitely recommend, it’s a solid lock at a good price point.
