Great design, maybe not deep enough
Great design. I use it for pottery to make impression and it looks adorable, but omg I need to really push on it to get an adequate impression. It does not roll easy either in itself. But it's worth having trouble for the perfect flower design that is really fun to glaze.

Beautiful cookies
I wanted fancy-looking cookies for a tea party for my husband, and this embossed rolling pin was perfect. I did read reviews first and was glad I read about oiling the rolling pin first, rather than just using flour. There was slight sticking of the dough at first, but it was easy to gently pull the dough away and keep going. An old butter cookie recipe was perfect consistency, but I did lightly dust the cookies before baking with a little sugar. I did have to soften the refrigerated dough by gently kneading it with my hands to make it pliable enough to roll. Cleaning was easy with a wet, soapy hand brush, which removed any bits of dough that were stuck in the crevices. A light oiling after the rolling pin dried should keep it in good condition.

Very cute
This is a very cute roller. You need to keep dough very chilled to use; as well as greasing or flouring it well and in between use. I used a spray faucet to clean with a bristle brush to get everything out of the grooves. Only issue is depending on how deep the indentions are or how much something will rise depends on if the pattern will show well after baking.

BEAUTIFUL on clay
I purchased this to use on clay. I didn't expect that the design would have a start and end--I mean it's a long rectangle but organic and not a straight rectangle. The area where the design ends and the next begins is maybe 1/16" so I use it on long pieces. It's gorgeous on clay.

Take care of it properly and it will last!
A family member made the mistake of washing the rolling pin in the dishwasher and now the wood is beginning to split a little. As long as it doesn't get washed in the extreme heat of the dishwasher, it shouldn't get worse and the current split shouldn't affect the pattern.Cookie dough can get caught in the grooves, but it's very easy to pick out!I wish the pattern could show up on softer cookies, but I understand why that doesn't work. I have to make a choice between soft cookies with no pattern and crunchy cookies with an elegant design. But at least the elegant design actually shows up on the dough when it's baked!

Awesome
The rolling pins by this company are awesome. I have purchased other brands from other companies that are extremely expensive. These rolling pins are just as good. I used them for cookies and they imprinted perfectly and my end result was exactly what I wanted. I have purchased two more pins and can't wait to get them. Well worth the $21. It's nice they come with a card explaining care and cleaning plus a couple of bonus recipes. One of my better finds on Amazon.

I love the pattern!
I used my own gingerbread recipe and after a couple of tries, the rolling pin worked well. I just had to sprinkle dough with flour to prevent sticking, then I brushed off the excess flour. The engraved pattern is deep. My Valentine's cookies turned out great.I now have a few of these rolling pins with different patterns.

Dough gets stuck when you try to roll
Too bad. The pattern on the rolling pin is so pretty. But it does not transfer well - dough gets stuck in the pattern when you try to roll. I've used lots of flour to keep it dry, used chilled dough but it does not work well at all. And the cookies I managed to get barely have any pattern.

It really, really works!
I got absolutely beautiful results with this rolling pin. Just make sure you put your cookies in the freezer for a few minutes before the oven. This helps hold the pattern.

quality issue
I like the quality of the embossed print - it's crisp, smooth and clean, however because the handles are touching the roller in spots it doesn't roll smoothly. I will be using this on clay so I can make it work for me by rolling on firm clay but if I were using it for pastry I am not sure that forcing it would be an option.

Make making cookies fun!
This is not necessary at all---but it is a lot more fun for me when I make cookies for the family. They are BEAUTIFUL. Make sure you have enough flour that the dough doesn't stick.
