As a Registered Dental Hygienist, this is the same model night guard I wear and recommend to my patients! Excessive grinding and clenching of the teeth can be extremely damaging. Premature failure of dental restorations, breakage of teeth and gum line recession are common problems associated with the grinding/clenching habit known as bruxism. In our dental practice we make custom fitted guards that sell for hundreds of dollars but we offer these as an alternative when cost is a concern. After trying dozens of OTC (over the counter) mouth guard models these have proven to be the best fitting most comfortable day/night brux/clench/grind guard. These will double as a sports mouth guard but are intended to be used as a protective device for people who grind and clench their teeth and are wanting a better more comfortable fit than a sports mouth guard can offer.

The nightguards are big and uncomfortable
I needed a good nightguard to prevent my night time teeth grinding issue. Before purchasing these, I tried another from CVS which was just a bad design and didn't mold perfectly even after several attempts. Next I read reviews on Amazon for many brands of nightguards and eventually ended up buying these because of mostly good reviews. With this nightguard, there were 2 guards in the pack and the white one seemed like much better fit for my mouth. The molding method was quite tricky but I was able to finally mold to my teeth after couple attempts.Initially, I had trouble falling asleep with the nightguard in because I was not used to sleeping with a foreign object in my mouth. After a few days I got used to it though and finally started falling asleep. But then in the morning, I would wake up with pain in my mouth and face. The pain was especially noticeable in my gums. I continued with these for over a month but eventually gave up because the pain was becoming unbearable. It may work for others but these definitely didn't work for me.

Right fit for the right price
The two pack is really awesome. Following the instruction wasn't too difficult and easy to create your own perfectly fitting mouth guard. It was a scary moment doing this hoping to not destroy it and waste my money but it worked out for me. No burns and no issues. At first it looked like I bit down too hard but its working out just fine. This is a great alternative to the dentist who wanted to charge me in the $200+ range for a single mouth guard. This pack came with two mouth guards. Even though I'm a huge man I still found myself using the smaller mouth guard. The larger of the two displaces my lips too much but is still usable. The smaller one fits in nicely and is used for 95% of the time.Pretty much you can clean these however you want. Personally I brush them just like I would my teeth. Just not as often.

Easy for first time user
The instructions were reasonably clear. I was able to guess which piece would fit better. I picked the one that didn't seem like it would fit as my practice piece. The boiling went along just fine but it was harder to bite into than I anticipated. So I reboiled and tried again. I got a better "bite" on the second try but the material seemed pretty disturbed. Clearly, one good clean bite on the first try would work much better. So, with this in mind I was able to switch to my actual piece and get the bite more or less right. The fit ended up OK.Although, it is the smaller mouthguard that I use, I am surprised that it doesn't really make a big difference. The comfort level between the two is somewhat similar. Perhaps it's because they are both large physical presences in your mouth and you either get used to this or you don't.It took a while to get used to having the mouthguard in place. Then I found, I was clenching my jaws even harder simply because the guard was in place and biting was more comfortable. So I ended up grinding even more frequently and much harder. In the end, my dentist's advice about just remembering to keep my teeth separated all day (and night) worked. I have a pillow protector and change my pillowcases frequently instead. You gotta go with whatever disturbs you less.

No odor or taste, but mouth guards aren't for me
I bought a mouth guard at the recommendation of my dentist, and this works great. It molded perfectly to my horrible bite. It was very comfortable, and I couldn't notice a taste or smell. I'm one of those people that can detect off smells and tastes amazingly. If there were a need for a superhero to complain about smells/tastes, I would gladly work to protect the innocent... er... the picky complainers. I can't use plastic food storage, or anything with a rubber lid or gasket because the smell bothers me. I almost didn't buy this because of some review that said toxic poison, but there are no nefarious chemicals in this guard.Let me restate again: There is no bad smell or taste that I can detect! On the downside, the mere presence of a guard is enough to bother me, as I have never awoken with the guard in place. I spit it at some point in the night. It doesn't hurt, it doesn't bother me, I guess the sleeping me doesn't like the idea of a mouth guard as much as the awake me.

No Two Mouths Are Alike
When I first opened the package I thought for sure neither of the mouth guards were going to fit me. The small one was way to small and the large one was so narrow I thought it ridiculous to even try. My wife ended up trying the small one first and she loved it. So what the heck, I boiled the H2O and gave it a try. To my surprise it fit perfectly. Not only was the fix excellent it was more comfortable overnight then any other mouth guard I've ever used (and I've used everyone available in the box stores). At first impression I found the thickness between the jaws to be nice and beefy but the front was so thick I couldn't close my lips. It ended up not being a problem at all since, according to my wife, I sleep with my trap open. I was also VERY pleased that it didn't have that nasty rubber taste so many mouth guards have. Is this mouth guard good for you? I have no idea. We are all different and since these types of things are very personal you are the only one who could possibly know the answer. At such a cheap price I say give it a try and see if it works for you. If it does or doesn't then write a review and let others know. Works great for me. I'll never buy another brand.

Affordable product, better than buying from your dentist....
Great product to help you stop grinding your teeth. I was told by my hygienist that my receding gum line is a result of teeth grinding and recommended I use a mouth guard. They were kind enough to suggest I purchase one elsewhere cause the dentist would charge at least three hundred bucks for a customized one for my mouth! This was easy to mold to my teeth. Just boil, cool and mold. Very easy to customize. Price was a little steep but better than hundreds of dollars! You're also paying for two but will use whichever one fits best. I ended up using the bigger of the two. It may take some getting use to as the instruction warns. Especially if you gag easily cause it is bulky, however, overall, I was happy with this product.
