Cleaning wild fire smoke in house
Second day with the purifier, and extremely happy with my choice. I could smell and feel a difference in my breathing within 20 minutes of it running. I am in the Bay Area, experiencing horrible air quality as a result of Camp fire. I got sick with inflamed sinuses and a bad cough 6 days into the smoke, and wish I had ordered this purifier days ago. I had to leave the area for three days it got so bad. The purifier made our living room livable, and I could breathe without coughing after about an hour of having it on the fastest speed.I took it with me to the bedroom and put it on Auto function at night, and it read the air quality as good (blue), keeping the speed on low. After about 20 min I did notice a high pitched humming, not the fan noise. I tried to ignore it, and did fall asleep initially. About 2 hours later the noise woke me up. I turned the purifier off, wondering if i’d Start to feel sick again. I didn’t. The humming isn’t noticible on higher fan speeds, the fan noise drowns it out. But the fan noise is very noticible on higher speeds. Not an issue during the day, but a bit bothersome at night.I tested the purifier in different parts of our smallish house. Closer to the windows the air quality indicator would go yellow. The middle was blue. When cooking, the purifier indicated red, though not in the kitchen (but our kitchen opens to a small dining area, which is open to the living room - about 8 feet from kitchen edge to living room edge). It went to yellow, and eventually blue after an hour once cooking was done.It seems to be cleaning the smoke from outside, and the kitchen particles/smells.It’s easy to use, and I like the tower design.

Works Well, with One Exception
I had a Hunter Fan air purifier with a "permanent filter" for many years, but eventually I wanted a purifier with modern features, notably the UV light to tackle viruses.First I was beset by sticker shock at what some modern purifiers cost. $500-600 for what is essentially a fan with electronics and filters???But I came upon this PureZone Elite purifier for large rooms and liked the tower form factor, the positive reviews -- and the under-$200 price. After spending several weeks with the unit in my studio apartment, I can say I'm pleased with the purchase -- with one exception. The "air quality monitor" feature doesn't seem to be working for me -- or at least not where I have the purifier set up.The monitor always reads "good," even on the occasions when I was grilling chicken and the apartment filled with smoke, or when the outboard air quality monitor I have across the room (measuring CO2 and particulate matter) reads in the red (bad air). But -- because I have that outboard monitor, and the apartment is more than just the one room, I just leave the purifier at high speed and ignore its air quality readings.Otherwise, the purifier is VERY quiet, even on high speed. Folks who like to sleep in a totally dark room will appreciate the fact that you can turn off all but one of the blue lights here at night. And the unit has a timer you can set for 2, 4, or 8 hours.I also appreciate the "filter reset" indicators for both the main and pre-filters. I'm not sure if these run off a timer or some sort of air-volume sensor, but they're welcome in either event. And I must say, I'm impressed by the overall build quality of the purifier and its filters. So I have deducted one star for the questionable air-quality monitor, but otherwise I like this PureZone Elite tower...PROS:* 4-Stage Filtration including HEPA, carbon, UV light, and Ionizer* VERY quiet in operation, even at high speed* Set timer for 2, 4, or 8 hours* All but one light can be shut off at night* Small-footprint tower form factor* Build quality seems superior* 5-year warranty* Replace Filter indicator lights* Reasonably pricedCONS:* Air Quality Monitor with auto fan speed not working for me* Need to replace filters, UV light regularlyUPDATE: here's another positive I can report. We've been having a heatwave of several days' duration in NYC as I write this. Usually, my air quality monitor would start reading in the yellow or red, I presume because of CO2 in my air-conditioned and -recirculated studio apartment. Since getting the Pure Expressions purifier, the air quality monitor almost always reads in the green, even in that sealed environment. Ex-cellent!

The filter works - but is "noisy"
UPDATE:I am editing my review of this product from 2 to 5 stars. After contacting Pure Enrichment regarding the fan noise found in my original unit, Pure Enrichment sent me a replacement unit at no charge. I almost never see excellent customer service like this anymore.I received my replacement unit just in time to assist with the smoke coming from new fires in Utah. I couldn't be happier and can recommend the purchase of this HEPA filter for anyone needing such a device.********************************************************Because I live in Utah, we are currently experiencing abnormally high amounts of wildfire smoke pollution. This pollution is coming from California and Utah wildfires. At times, the smoke outside is so heavy, there is a noticeable odor inside as well. My HVAC has a high-end HEPA filter as well as UV.I purchased the PureZone Elite "Ultra Quiet" 4-in-1 filter to help with the smoke odor that gets past my HVAC. It removes the odor extremely well in the room in which it is placed. However, there is a very faint, but noticeable "whine" from the internal fan(s). It sounds vaguely like the fan bushings on an exterior AC heat exchange whose fan is worn out. While the noise isn't usually disturbing or irritating, it is loud enough to make the filter unsuitable for use in my bedroom at night. The noise would keep me awake.I'm wondering if any other purchasers have the same issues. I have requested feedback from the manufacturer regarding this issue and will update this review once I have it.This filter deserves 5 stars, but I can only give 2 if this fan noise is to be expected.
