A Werewolf In England [DVD]

This was one of three DVDs I ordered at the same time which mentioned “Dog Soldiers”.2 were complete balderdash and bore no resemblance to DS in any way shape or form.A Werewolf in England claims to be inspired by DS and in my opinion is a justified and accurate claim.But you will have to watch to find out.If you like the classics from the 1930’s and 1940’s ,the B- Movies ,with practical SFX instead of CGFX then you should love this.Although the inspiration of DS is clear it draws more on the “original” Werewolf movies.Everything is there – the forest,the coach and horses,the Inn,the creepy servant character,the mad screaming old woman,the misunderstood victim,the disbelievers who will soon become believers and the drunk(s) who step up and become heroes.There are a few surprises and a few scenes which are unique and have never,as far as I know, been done before.One scene in particular is 100% unique and absolute genius but I would suggest not eating while watching this.Like the two others,which were tripe,I watched this during the day expecting it to be less than mediocre but that was a mistake.This is most definitely a night time watch.My only criticisms of this would be some of the language is unnecessary and that it should have been shot in B/W.In fact I am so keen to watch it in B/W that I am trying to source an old telly that can have the colour turned down.A future classic and a must for collectors of Werewolf pictures .

This movie is fun, well made and just awesome. It’s tough around the edges in places but that adds to the fun.Great practical SFX, good premise well executed. Highly recommend

It's terrible and disappointing 😞 😔 😕

I enjoyed this low budget British horror comedy, which for a spur-of-the-moment supermarket purchase is a pretty good result. The opening scenes of a coach and horses galloping down a country road were Hammeresque, and there were little touches throughout that reminded me of that great studio's output. This one is played for laughs though and the 'Dog Soldiers' inspiration blurb reflects the film rather better than the Victorian London cover. I did chuckle too, quite a few times, and being a fan of early Peter Jackson films, the grosser moments of comedy particularly appealed to me. Very decent acting, a nice script and the werewolves were great - well done to all involved.

Oh my. Where do I start. Nothing like Dog Soldiers! It was so bad it was good. Bad acting. If you want a werewolf film you can laugh at. This is it. I never thought I would see the day when a werewolf takes a crap!! If you watch it, be prepared to laugh. It is not a horror movie at all. Fabulously bad!

I was seduced into buying this by the quote at the top of the cover which having watched the movie must have been written by the impaired granny of the director. The DVD cover is deceptive.What was good about it was the costumes of the werewolves. Reminiscent of Dog Soldiers they were pretty good. But whoever was in them seemed only capable of lumbering movement of the feet and waving of the arms. Had anything else been half decent the half decent plot might have carried this effort a bit further. The premise of a Parish Councillor transmitting a prisoner for a trial by document is a playschool view of a legal system.The script is shockingly poor. The acting is wooden. The action is stilted and hammy. A thrill-free zone of a movie.If this truly is the best since Dog Soldiers then it is a damning indictment of the genre.I would suggest you save your money.

It's a great werewolf film & funny It has good storyline they did sSpoilt the film when the Werewolves Deficated on the Humans that wasn't right.

Really loved this latest offering from Dark Temple. Channels all the camp, lurid bloodshed, creaky sets and larger-than-life characters of a classic Hammer horror. And the pratical effects are awesome!! Great fun.

Good comedy, got a lot of laugh from the actors.

This movie seems like it engages the audience, 'inviting' viewers to delve into the characters, plot and actors.Scary, amusing and thoughtful! The werewolves are refreshingly original with their own actions. Try not to laugh when two of the men hiding behind a overturned sofa get .... , well., watch the film and see what one werewolf does. Talk about targeting their game! The characters are developed in believable depth and you cannot help for rooting for them. Even the werewolves. I found it particularly a riot when the hunted try to barricade the family room with furniture when all along the double doors opened out, not in to the room. There was only one scene that was unbelievable regarding slicing into wolf's head, but watch the movie and then agree or disagree! Some new and apparently unknown first rate actors.

This werewolf movie was very good funny and kind of scary but more humor than scare..I enjoyed it tho..
