WiniDirect USB External Slot DVD CD RW Drive Burner Superdrive for Apple Macbook Pro Air iMAC

I inserted a DVD and immediately heard a sound that could have passed for a buzz saw. I wish I could post an Mp3 of the sound. The DVD worked and played fine, and I tried it a few times to make sure it wasn't inserted at a bad angle or something, but the noise persisted and was so overbearing I couldn't hear the sound of the movie. I didn't read any other reviews with this issue, so its probably defective and will be sent back. But it seems like numerous other people have had bad luck with this model in more recent reviews so who knows whats going on.Also, this is nit-picky, but the USB cable is pretty short, so you'll have to plan on having the player right next to your computer, which most people probably would anyways, but I had a better location to save space, but it just wouldn't reach.

I bought this a month or so ago and at best, it's temperamental.I have a mac air and most of the time when I plug it into the usb I get an error message saying USB Devices Disabled, Unplug the device using too much power to re-enable USB Devices. I have no other things connected to the computer. Sometimes it will work and I can burn my old cds. If I move the connector cord just slightly it reacts (either starts whirring again or shuts off) so I am wondering if there is a short in the wires (already??? it's sat on a table only!) I liked the price versus the $100 apple equivalent but I think the manufacturing quality is too random because the reviews are either love it or hate it. So, you can roll the dice that you get a properly made unit or.... something else. I'm so tired of crappy-made electronics.

This CD player has an ridiculously short USB cable so you pretty much have to have it right at your computer. I noticed after having it a little while (but too long to send it back) that it isn't recognizing the blank discs I insert even though it had previously recognized that brand before. Luckily it's almost not necessary to burn disks anymore because of digital options. But if I ever do need to replace this CD player, I won't purchase this brand/model again.

This is the worst product I have ever ordered. I would not even give it a star if I didn't have to. It would not work on any computer that we tried. It did do ONE thing........SUCK up a good Babara Streisand dvd to never return it. JUNK!!!!! Do not order!!!!!

Cheap and the felt padding on the ntake slot has bunched up after 5 uses. Too scared to put any video in anymore.

It will not connect to my MAC. I put disk in player, it ran for a moment, though still not connecting to computer, then stopped so now the DVD is in the player and there is no way to get it out. I'm really disappointed.

It played DVD s but Could not burn files. Had to return it.

Horrible! Loud, strange sounds. Never worked. As soon as you plug it in it makes strange sounds like it's choking. Put a DVD in the sounds are so loud and it sounds like it's trying to eat it, then spits it out. Sending back. Waste of money.
