Detailed 1/48 scale assembly model kit of the de Havilland Canada DHC-2 Beaver, a single engine Short Take-Off and Landing (STOL) aircraft. Developed in the late 1940's by de Havilland Canada as primarily a bush plane, the Beaver's reliability and versatility made it an ideal aircraft for militaries operating in remote and rugged terrains. The U.S. military, in particular the U.S. Army, operated the Beaver as liaison aircraft and designated it the LA-20 (later U-20) Beaver. LA-20/U-20 Beavers saw service in both the Korean War and Vietnam War as transport, reconnaissance, search and rescue, among other missions. Many DHC-2 Beavers of all variants are still flying today, a testament to the success of the type.
