My 5 year use review
I bought this in 2014 and here it is 2020 and I just realized I never left a review! So after 5 years I can now happily give the Pursonic 500 series a 5 star review and a recommendation. In fact, I'm about ready to order another... but not because the 500 series broke. The reason is because I finally used up the 12 brushes that came with the unit and it appears that the cost of replacement brushes is just a little less than a brand new unit with 12 more brushes so I'll just order that. I should specify I'll be buying the 420 series this time, currently about $25... the 500 series (now the 520) is about $40 and I don't see any major difference so I'll just go with the lower cost model.Oh and about those 12 brushes, I know I probably should have replaced them more often... I'm single so 12 bushes should have lasted me about three years if I changed them 4 times a year. I'll try and do that with the new unit. I think I ended up changing the brushes twice or 3 times a year which I now know is probably not the best idea. But here is the best part: during these past 5 years I have had excellent dental check-ups... no cavities and the dentist and hygienist are always impressed with my teeth. This is all from only brushing once a day with Colgate Sensitivity toothpaste. It's pretty simple to me: if you're single the 12 brushes should last you 3 years so at $25 that's about $6.33 a year, a bargain for healthy, shiny teeth!

Works well, very fresh feeling
Just got this yesterday, I've never used an electric/sonic toothbrush of any kind. It wasn't charged on arrival so I charged it overnight and it was raring to go this morning. I read the instructions and it only took a couple tries to get the brush head on firmly. I was also careful to put the brush head inside my mouth before turning it on so no spray everywhere (they tell you this in the instructions). Took some getting used to, being careful to keep the back of the brush off my other teeth (this was on the middle, gentle setting). I like the small brush head as I have a small mouth, I always used to buy the compact head manuals. It does have a weird ticklish feeling at first but I got used to it quickly. I am a pretty aggressive brusher with a manual so it wasn't a stunning improvement but a noticeable improvement, especially on the inside surfaces of my teeth. What I was most surprised about was how much fresher my mouth felt--I wonder if the sonic pulses push the toothpaste deeper into the spaces between my teeth? Never felt that fresh after brushing with a manual. Haven't managed to detect the 30-sec warning to move to another quadrant though, guess I'll just wing it. I will try the regular setting next, thought I'd best start with the gentle one until I got used to it. Funny, I'm actually looking forward to brushing with it again, it's kind of fun.

Rather nice product
I gave 2 stars because I could not remove the toothbrush head to replace it with one of the generous 12 extra brushes that came with the kit. I pulled really hard but it did not release. I have a Braun Oral -B rotary toothbrush which works fine, but I wanted a reciprocating toothbrush to compare with the Oral-B. I have not learned how to eliminate the splash from the Pursonic , which is quite messy at any of the 3 speeds available. The tickling sensation is another issue if you are sensitive to this. The Pursonic brush did clean well if you can tolerate the downside.Edited Review...I have changed my initial 2 star rate to 4 stars after a Pursonic Representative told me how to replace the brush head by twisting the brush to the right & then pull it off. This was easy. This vibrating toothbrush is 10,000 pulsating units faster(40,000 total)than most all others I looked at. Indeed, it does clean teeth so well. I can feel the difference when I run my tongue over my teeth. The Pursonic leaves a smooth clean feeling surface. The Pursonic has an ergonomic light feeling handle that is pleasurable to hold. The stand holds 4 brush heads & has a small footprint that will economize the room on your sinktop. It surely is a bargain price at less than $50. I will have to learn how to use this toothbrush to my advantage & alternate it with my rotary Oral-B.

2.5 STARS for this user.
I don't know where I stand on this particular item -except for maybe on the fence.Pros:Holds its charge for a long while. (I've only had the brush for 2 months or so but it requires little plug-in time to this point.)Oscillation is fast. Many brush heads included. (No idea how long the hold up, however... See Cons)Teeth seem cleanPrice was reasonableCons:One brush doesn't seem to stay on well anymore. I've thrown it out after having to continually set it back in place.Oscillation is fast but it also leads to spraying and a mess if you open your mouth too much or pull the brush out before stopping it.A jarring jolt occurs when the back of the brush head comes in contact with teeth. It feels far to familar to when a dentist's drill vibrates against your teeth when they're numbed.Debatable Pro/Con:Brush stops oscillating if too much pressure it applied. I understand the concept is to help one keep the brush tips the correct length on the teeth, but it's a nuisance.Brush has pre-set times to pause for a split second to remind you to move to another quadrant of your mouth. I personally dislike this feature a great deal as it mimics the stopping caused by too much pressure and I can't discern always which is which.Alternate features like a mode for sensitive teeth and massage come off as worthless to me.Bottom line: 2.5 stars really for this user. I will retain it until I find something better. Right now, it's doing the job and I don't like to throw away things simply because they aren't perfect.

Awesome toothbrush
Intense tickles at first with the amount of brush strokes, but the clean in your mouth when you're finished brushing is really awesome.2018 Update* This little guy is still going strong, even after moving a few times (I am a ignorant hateful mover, I hate moving).
