Tokina AF 10-17mm F/3. 5-4.5 at-X 107 DX Fish Eye Canon

I purchased this lens exclusively for underwater photography use. It is recommended by many UW photography sites and UW photographers as a must have lens for wide angle photography. Although I also have a Canon 10-22 mm lens, I thought I'd give this a try and see what all the excitement was about. Well, they weren't kidding. This is a phenomenal tool for UW photography. I shot this through an 8" Ikelite dome using a Canon 7D. Sharpness was very good, even into the corners. You can get very close to your subject and minimize the water column (and particles) to a greater degree than even the Canon 10-22 mm. The distortion you see with this lens above water is not evident below. I was always a bit nervous about using a fisheye, because of the curvature they yield. I was pleasantly surprised how much this is a non-issue underwater. Depth of field is fantastic, allowing wide angle close ups of a small foreground subject, with an expansive scene behind. Wreck photography under some pretty dirty water conditions was also excellent. I've had a great time exploring new techniques with this lens, such wide angle close-ups at a small aperture and slow shutter speed to give a visible or blue water background. The 10 to 17 mm zoom makes it very flexible for changing subject matter. The only negative I've found is a tendency toward purple fringing. This isn't evident unless you pixel peep, and it doesn't seem to have a practical effect on picture quality, but it is evident if you zoom into some images. You really have to watch strobe position with a lens this wide. Push them too far forward and fire them toward full power and you run the risk of hot spots bleeding into the photo. As you might expect, this is especially true when the water is heavy with particulates. With a little care and practice, this problem is readily avoided. This lens also seems to be a good choice for shooting UW video. The high depth of field this lens offers eliminates focusing concerns on cameras like the 7D. In most cases it is focus once and forget. Overall, this was a great purchase. Particularly when you consider the reasonable price, every serious UW photographer should own one of these.

It is the best fisheye for the price the quality is 100% color and every thingI had fun using it fast focus I recommend it for every one ((ammeter or pro))Although I had one problem with it. It is too hard to fit it to the camera I bought 2 lensesFor 2 cameras {canon 400d and canon 40d} and I faced the same problem on both camerasYou will have to use force to fit them. Pros:- This lens is very well built. It feels solid.- For the price, it goes to F3.5, which is as good or better than similarly priced lenses.- I wanted a dramatic fisheye effect and this lens certainly delivers.Cons:- When used with a camera like the EOS 20D, it does not support flashes like the 550EX. The flash simply becomes disabled.Overall:If you usually buy L series lenses, you will find the limitations of this lens as a disappointment. However, if you usually stick to the more budget priced lenses, then you will likely enjoy this lens. It is a fine fisheye for the price.

I shoot surf with this lens and I couldn't of asked for anything more perfect. Although it is well built, the zoom and focus ring seem to shift sometimes with vibrations but for the most part it is a wonderful lens.

I bought this lens for my Cannon 60D not knowing anything about lenses but I did hear this was the only real fisheye on the market so I decided to gice it a try. Now I use it all the time with SPL Water Housing for Surf Photography and I also use it for skate, off-road, etc.Very satisfied if you want a real fisheye I would reccomend this lens.

Very happy with this. Have wanted a fisheye for a long, long time. Am having lots of fun experimenting with it. Getting fun results.

This lens is my baby. I take it with me everywhere I go. I ordered it nearly 4-5 years ago and it is still going strong after exploring Poland, Ireland, Spain, Portugal, Morocco, and even a fall in 4 feet of water!

I really like the lens and know what it can do, but the unit I received was faulty.On my new Canon 70D the lens gave would not work, giving Err 01 - clean lens contacts (this was when the lens was straight out of the box) the contacts did appear t be fine.After some online investigation I found a work around where the aperture is set to 3.5 in A mode and the lens works a treat, but this is not a long term fix nor the setting I would be using all the time!!Unfortunately I had to return the lens immediately due this fault and I'm presently awaiting my replacement, however it is a very good lens and the 4 stars is for the fault only, otherwise it would have been a 5.Construction is solid and the zoom & focus rings are smooth, the test shots I managed to take gave a huge field of vision, getting 4 walls in a room in 1 shot.I will be primarily using this lens for underwater photography and have saw great results from others

前々から欲しいと思っていたレンズだったので満足しています。

Das Objektiv erweckt mit seinem Metallbody einen sehr guten Eindruck. Der Servo zum Fokussieren arbeitet schnell und leise.Einziges Manko ist der ebenfalls aus Metall bestehende Objektivdeckel. Dieser geht nach ein paar Wochen der Benutzung zu leicht ab, sodass ich befürchte, dass man diesen früher oder später verlieren wird, oder er in der Kameratasche abgeht und seiner Aufgabe nicht mehr nachkommt. Hier wäre eine Klick-Lösung aus Plastik sicher die bessere Wahl gewesen. Wer mit dem Gewicht des Objektivs leben kann (es ist halt etwas schwerer als eines aus Plastik) und ein gutes FishEye mit AF sucht, wird hiermit zufrieden sein. An den Bildern, die es macht, kann ich nichts aussetzen (mit einer 70d).
