Eight Cranes "Perfect Steeper" is a portable tea brewer and 8 ounce tea cup all in one attractive, double-walled high tempered glass chamber with stainless accents. It provides an easy way to brew high quality loose leaf tea without the mess of a traditional teapot and cups. Simply remove the top (steeping chamber) from the cup and add hot water to the cup. Replace the steeping chamber and secure snugly to the cup. Next remove the lid from the steeping chamber and add loose leaf tea. Replace the lid and slowly invert the steeper so the steeping chamber fills with water, and allow the tea to steep for 1-3 minutes. Slowly return to the steeper to its upright position allowing the water to drain back into the cup. Remove the steeping chamber and drink from the cup. Doubled walled tempered glass 8 oounce unit with stainless steel accents.

great steeper
I use this all the time. It is incredibly convenient and produces great tasting tea. I originally had the PG version, which is plastic, because I was afraid of breaking the glass one. But after that one got worn through I decided to try the glass and really enjoy it.This product doesn't last forever, there's a lot of screwing on and off of lids. The very top lid is actually two parts epoxied together and after a few hundred sweaty manhandlings they can come undone. But after about two years of very hard duty, I did not feel upset at having to purchase a new one at all.I've bought this as gifts to friends and they've enjoyed it.One word of caution, after you clean it and reassemble it make sure the o ring is sitting flat. Otherwise when you flip it air will leak out and spurt molten tea goo all up your forearm. If you hear a hiss at any point after flipping reverse your flip.

I love it.
I love this product. I have used it every day at work since I bought it about a month ago, and I am about to buy a second one for home use.The single criticism that I *might* level at it is that it can be hard to get water to exchange between the top and the bottom pieces, but I think that is mostly a function of the pressure inside it (pressure due to hot water). I just slowly and carefully unscrew the lids.I have always really enjoyed tea, but the mess of dealing with loose-leaf tea has always kept me from really exploring it. This thing makes it much easier to enjoy tea!

Be careful
I had purchased this product on Nov. 18th. The product arrived a few days later. I was impressed by the product at first and it totally met my needs. That all changed last night...I had just finished the first cup of tea and was going back for my second. I poured the water from my tea kettle into the cup and attached the steeping chamber. I then slowly turned the product upside down so that the tea could begin steeping. I was on my way back to my laptop when the cup literally exploded in my hand. The cup was not cold and the water was not boiling so I am not sure what exactly happened. Thankfully I just got a few minor burns from the hot water.

Advertised as being made of double walled glass. Top clear container is some kind of plastic.
At a glance it seemed ok. I bought this because I don't like putting boiling water on unknown plastics. The top clear container where you put the tea to brew seems to be acrylic or polycarbonate. Kinda defeats the purpose of buying glass. Also I find it an odd coincidence that they didn't mention that although found time to emphasize the glass part. Other than that it seems well made although the stainless steel is very thin and probably glued on. I could imagine those rings coming off in short order.

Lasted about 2 months
The most important information is that the steeper only lasted for about 2 months of once-a-day daily use. During steeping with hot water the inner glass completely shattered near the bottom. I cannot recommend this product, but I can provide some additional information in case you are still considering a purchase.ProsWorks well to steep teaDoesn't leak if you put the pieces together tightlyIts a clever design and looks coolConsMine broke after only two months of useIt does not hold enough volume (the eight ounce capacity was never enough for me) I would steep twice to get enough teaIt does become quite hot to the touch when steeping

I love it
This is about as "perfect" as it gets as far as a portable steeper goes. I read reviews saying it leaks or water stays in the steeping chamber, but it seemed as if all of those bad reviews and comments had people comment on them with solutions to all those problems, so I went ahead an purchased it. It doesn't leak, just make sure you screw the cap on tight enough (common sense). As long as you turn the cup back upright slowly, all of the water leaves the chamber. It's so simple. It looks great, and has exceeded my expectations. I used the same tea leaves for 4 cups, this thing is so easy to use. I did A LOT of research for a decent portable tea cup, and believe me this is the best system and best quality out there.

Small
It's a lot of effort to make eight ounces of tea.It works but I don't use it; preferring a larger portable brewing container.I would not say it is a convenient tea glass, since you can't seal the wet grounds separate from the tea.

The perfect steeper portable loose tea brewer indeed!
I am extremely happy with this product. I looked for so long for a way to drink my loose tea at work without making a mess - until I found this one.I can drink it in my cube, and take it to meeting rooms with me; I would just refill it at the water fountain. And, due to the doubled wall glass, it was never uncomfortable to hold it while hot. It also fits well in average car's beverage holders.I had mine since February, and it broke just today as a result of an accident (fall on the floor), but I am ordering a new one right away.I can't picture my day tomorrow at work without my perfect portable loose tea brewer.
