I've had a rain-type silver metal shower head that was installed in my house when I bought it. I've loved that shower head because it had a great flow and provided a refreshing shower. Periodically I would have to remove it, however, to clean it thoroughly because disgusting mildew would build up in the tips. But when I would reinstall it it would leak for a while and was hard to adjust and tighten. And it seemed like the mildew was building up a LOT quicker in recent months, so I was having to clean the shower head very often while still being concerned about the mildew issue. So I decided it was time to get a new shower head. I looked into a LOT of shower heads -- including hand held ones, one of which I chose for my guest bath. But I decide to go with this one because of the reviews, the reasonable price, and because it seemed most like my old shower head that I loved but simpler (which means less headaches to clean, install, and us). And I am SO glad I got this shower head. It is fabulous. It is much better than my old one, and I really wish I had gotten this sooner. I love that it has the soft tips that you can squeeze to remove any residue. It is SO easy to install. My old one had several moving pieces including two tightening screws, and I much prefer this one. It doesn't leak like my old one, and it provides a truly great shower experience. (FYI, I didn't install the conservation piece). When I got it, I was surprised at how big the shower head is. It is quite a bit larger than my old shower head, and I thought it was large. I like that it is plastic and not metal. I really enjoy taking a shower, and it really rinses well and is so soothing. I plan to try it with the conservation piece as well, but to be honest, that piece is so tiny, I didn't see it until after I had already installed the shower head (which literally took two minutes max to do). I HIGHLY recommend the Thunderhead and have already suggested it to friends. It provides a wonderful shower experience. It would be nice if it came in beige (which would better match my shower) in addition to white, but that is a minor issue with me considering how fabulous this shower is. I already feel so much better not having to worry about the mildew issues with this shower head. Between the soft tips that you can squeeze to remove residue and the ease of putting it on and taking it off (if I want to clean it more thoroughly and when I install the conservation piece), I feel SO much better about my shower now. And that's on top of what a great shower it provides. Two big thumbs up for this great product!

In the typical San Francisco apartment (provided you're not quite wealthy), good water pressure is a rare commodity. My first apartment here provided a miserable drip rather more reminiscent of an incontinent mouse's output than the shower it was billed as; my current residence, though offering reasonable water pressure in the kitchen sink, was still distinctly sub-par when it came to the showers. I put up with this for about a year, but finally got tired of it taking up to half an hour to get any kind of decent wash.After comparing a number of different options, and noting the overwhelmingly enthusiastic reviews of the Thunderhead, I took a chance on it. Thank goodness I did! I'm always skeptical about whether or not a product will live up to its hype, but in my opinion, this one does if what you're after is a good pressure-boosting, full-body rain shower.The Thunderhead installed in under five minutes, start to finish, and includes a small amount of Teflon tape that should be sufficient for the average installation. It also included nice, clear instructions, and a water conservation valve (which I left out). It took my rather pathetic water flow and turned it into a satisfyingly firm, wide spray. The long, jointed mounting allows for a surprisingly wide range of positions in a fixed head.Of course, there are caveats which are not issues for me, but may be important for some users. For one thing, in terms of appearance, this is not the most elegant shower head out there. It's simply molded white plastic with flexible rubber nipples, so it won't exactly harmonize with a brass-and-brushed-nickel Kohler tap suite, if that matters to you.Also, I bought this shower head specifically because people with low water pressure reported good results with it. If you have normal or high water pressure, you will probably want to use the water-conservation valve to moderate the flow. Though in my shower it simply provides a pleasant spray--firm enough to thoroughly drench you, but not exactly an invigorating massage--I rather suspect that with particularly high water pressure, only people trying to save money on their acupuncture sessions would really enjoy it for very long.Finally, be aware that the disc of the head is very large. Nine inches' diameter looks considerably bigger in your shower than it does in pictures. The arm also necessarily adds a few inches of length to the distance the shower head protrudes from the wall. Personally, I like the size, which allows for a true full-body shower, and have no difficulties with it in a small apartment shower, but if you are particularly large in stature or your shower is particularly cramped, this may not be for you.If, however, after all those (long-winded) remarks, you still think the Thunderhead sounds good, I no longer hesitate to recommend it to you wholeheartedly. You are on to a good thing, and I believe you will be quite happy with your purchase.This could be the start of a beautiful friendship.

This is awesome; I got a good amount of water pressure coming out of this Canadian showerhead, and it is evenly dispersed. It doesn't quite look like the picture, since the photo is a side view. It's actually pretty big. My Mom thought it was ugly with the (commonly purchased with product suggestion) pipe extension, but quickly overlooked the cosmetic appeal with the showerhead performance once she got to try it out. The joints of the acrobatic positioning options are kind of hard to move around, but I suppose it has to be like that so it doesn't move itself as you shower. The company claims that hardwater buildup is easy to remove due to their product's design (the nozzles are puffy vinyl). For now I will give this a full five stars just because of the superior performance over all the other showerheads I have ever tried, but I have yet to see if it will stand the test of time (like mildew, scum, and hardwater build-up).Update: this Thunderhead shower head is still going great a full 3 years now. I don’t like showering anywhere else. When hardwater builds up enough to affect the trajectory of the water beams, I can simply pinch the rubber nozzles and the water stream regains it’s alignment. I have no mildew issues or have had any other such problems with this product. I think I will have to get more of them for my other family's houses too (that way I can shower at their houses without being annoyed by inferior shower heads; geez, I have become such a shower head snob).

Been using this shower head for about three years and its been sturdy and perfect for a waterfall effect. Great buy!

I waited desperately for this after moving into a new house with gravity fed water pressure. Unfortunately it doesn't really live up to its promise and some of the American reviews. Let's be clear, you get more water on you, primarily due to the massive shower head and being able to position it directly above your head. You do not however get any increase in water pressure. Overall it's an improvement but not at the price that it is and because it's plastic you really need to be careful fitting and adjusting it.

This is hands down the best showerhead ever invented. I first saw it at a trade show about 6 yrs ago. Specifically designed for low pressure, hard water areas by a canadian. I bought 6 at the trade show that were $100 each but altho expensive, were worth it - 3 for our house in Canada (hard water even tho we have a softener) and 3 for our house in mexico - v hard water and v low pressure. Mexico was the issue and how well it would pass the test as corrosion and the climate are very hard on anything metal. The selling feature at the trade show was that there were establishments on miami beach open to the elements and these showerheads had been in place for 5 years with no problem. Sold! Since buying those original 6, we have introduced them to our neighbours in mexico - they now all have them and one friend owns a boutique hotel there so i took 20 down for her. My first one broke last month - and that was because i rough handled it and it snapped at the coupling (instructions specifically say to not do that!) and as things degrade so much quicker in the tropical climate, the 2 I just bought off amazon are merely backups - in case at a great price I might add. The large rainshower area is fabulous and there is no more chasing the water around the shower to get wet as they don't bung up like metal heads. There will be mineral deposits that occasionally impede the flow of a nipple here and there, but while showering you can just do 'nipple maintenance!' and a little sand like grain comes out and all is good again.I know these now come in chrome or brushed nickel finish also but white is fine for my purposes. My only complaint would be that after a few years useage, the white plastic yellows a bit but only on some units! So I think i'm quite qualified to give an opinion of these as i have literally bought and seen the useage of over 30 showerheads.

Great shower head, easy to install. I have now purchased two of these and it’s a super great value at the lower price! Amazing shower experience for a fraction of the cost.Would be nice if it wasn’t a plastic fitting, but so far no problems with it. Have had our first one for over two years and love it.** I questioned the listing pictures as it is no longer showing as the shower head, but when I ordered a second time I still received the correct product!
