They got a bit carried away with the smell of the shag tobacco, but I'm glad they didn't include the smell of the horse dung that Victorian London was so known for.

Hazelnut, just hazelnut
This candle smells like absolute hazelnut. Strong hazelnut at that. I don't like hazelnut, so it was a big let down receiving this candle. I was intrigued by the description and name of this Sherlock's Study candle, but alas, I smell nothing but hazelnut.Years ago I bought from Frostbeard Studio and was very happy with their candle called "Oxford Library." I remember a reviewer had said it smells like "a freshly showered Sherlock Holmes." (This was before the Sherlock's Study candle existed.) Frostbeard liked that review enough that they included it in the description of the Oxford Library candle. I recommend to anyone considering this candle, to first look into the Oxford Library candle. It's a very fresh smell (not flowery) with a noticeable hint of leather. I would only suggest Sherlock's Study if you're okay with it smelling like a bucket of hazelnuts.

The quality of the candle is good but the small is horrible. Cloying. More like fake pumpkin donut than as described. It was shipped on time and was packaged well but no one in our house could stand the smell! Maybe we just got a bad lot.

Sweet but still smell great
This one is fairly sweet but still really great smelling. I still find the Shire candle as my favorite due to it's unexpected uniqueness. My wife prefers this one though. If you like sweet smelling candles I recommend Sherlock's Study.

Purchased as a gift for a Sherlock fan... The candle is absolutely adorable and came packaged very well. The candle has a very subtle smell, which I didn’t mind. Overall satisfied with this purchase!
