Simple and fool proof.
I like that I still have to turn the knob to lock and unlock. I can feel the lock engaging and don’t havre to wonder if it is secure. Some units don’t have this feature and if the lock is not perfectly aligned it may not engage and you may not even know.

Great product
I've recently relocated to my new home and once again I've bought this particular model of the Schlage deadbolt with electronic keyless lock. The reason for other models (from Schlage and any other manufacturer) to offer conventional back-up key is to make sure that if battery's died on you, you do not have to call a locksmith for help. Well, it seems unreasonable, because any mildly skilled thief would know how to pick the lock. What is unique about the Schlage under review is that you do not have a regular key, but you still can open the door by attaching a new battery to connections located on the external faceplate of the lock. This allows you to reactivate the electronic lock and yes, you'd have to buy a battery, but it's far better than calling a locksmith and causing damage to the door.

Excellent Schlage product...
I replaced an older Schlage dead bolt with this new touch deadbolt. My project was very easy and turned out better than I thought. All original door holes were as per specs and the new touch dead bolt fit perfectly. There is a thick metal security plate that is mounted under the door frame striker plate. This came with large 2 1/2" long lag screws that went deep into the actual interior wall frame giving extra security. This lock works absolutely smoothly and is quite nice looking. Very sturdy also. 9v battery makes it go. (Follow the installation instructions carefully) If you are replacing an older dead bolt, take it out first, before purchase, and measure the various existing door holes for proper specs. Mandatory! The measurements are given right in the Amazon posting for this product. If there is no existing deadbolt, make sure you use the correct jig and drill bits for the door dead bolt you are mounting. Not too difficult at all.

Quality/customer service
Schlage is known for its quality and durability. I use 2 other Schlage products at my house. I have had zero issues for years. This is the first I have had problems with. I bought this deadbolt and it works only half the time. I called into Schlage and they ran me through all the normal drills to test the product and make sure it wasn't me do something wrong and being my normal idiot self... After we established it was the product and that it was probably the internal spring, or solenoid that was going bad. He told me that it was covered under warranty but because of covid they are having delays on receiving product and it would be about 5 weeks before I would get a new deadlock. He told me to send it back to Amazon and exchange it for a new one. And that would have been a good solution if my child wouldn't have gotten sick and been my top priority for the next week or so. So now now I need out call schlage again and wait for them to receive product....I will amend my review if things don't work out.

Electrical Problems out of the box. Also interferes with my screen door handle hitting it while trying to close door.
I installed this along with other matching Schlage locks that we love. I love the Schlage brand, think they make the toughest locks and hardest to pick which is why when we wanted to upgrade into a keyless deadbolt Schlage was the brand we went with, replace other Schlage locks as an upgrade and change in color and style. After installing another lock this was straight forward, however when it came time to program it there was a problem. These are simple to program, enter the programming code that comes with the lock, then follow a few steps and enter your own 4 digit code. This would accept the codes ok and it would work, however one of the features of this lock is to lock the deadbolt you do not have to enter your code, when the lock is unlocked all you need to do is touch the Schlage label at the top of the keypad and this allows you to engage the deadbolt, a nice simple step. In normal mode when the deadbolt is engaged pressing the same Schlage label should cause the LED light directly above it to light up the keypad as the numbers ARE NOT back lit, they are lit up by the LED by pressing the Schalge label or button under the word Schlage. Well mine was not lighting up but I noticed the Green button would illuminate indicating the code entered was valid and the knob would turn unlocking the deadbolt. When you enter a wrong code the little light will blink red, when the correct code is entered it will flash green. Well it should ONLY flash green after I enter my code and pressing the Schlage button should turn on the LED light, but this never happened. Even in the manual troubleshooting this is the very first trouble. The trouble was "I can unlock the lock by only pressing the Schlage button without entering a code" Their answer was lock was installed incorrectly, reinstall. Well I already did one without any problems and I took this off and did it again following the instructions verbatim. The first test to check if the lock is installed correctly is with the door open and unlocked press the Schlage button and you should be able to lock the door, this is the test to validate the installation was done properly. Mine did this both times, passed the test, but never would the LED illuminate. It would light up when I was going thru the programming procedure, but right after that it would never light up again. I tried multiple times and the LED lights on programming codes, but pressing the same button gave me a green light and unlocked the deadbolt without ever entering any code.Regardless of this working or not I was forced to return it because I also have a locking screen door in front of my front door that this was installed on and this locks knob stick out much further then the old key deadbolt I replaced it with and the knob on this lock and the door handle on my screen door would hit and it was impossible for me to close my front door with the screen door closed. So this went back regardless of the electrical problems with it and am replacing it with a matching Schlage key deadbolt.

A bit costly but has a lot of benefits
My son has these on his house and the kids have not busted them up in the last 5 years. He recommended these to me. Easy battery change is a plus too. Just understand that to easily install the door hole must be 2-1/8" diameter and not the older 1-1/2" diameter.

Replaced a competitor's product with this - problems went away!
We have a nightly rental and had a Kwikset lock on it before this one. That lock would just keep retrying to lock if there was even a slight misalignment between the deadbolt and the hole in the door jam. The battery would go dead and then the renters would call.We replaced it with this Schlage lock and it has worked perfectly ever since. Highly recommend this lock!

Happy with this purchase
I have had this lock for over a year and it has worked with no problem. Not sure why I am supposed to rate its "warmth" and "thickness" (?) so I am ignoring those.I typically use the lock several times a day as it is installed on my back door which I use to let my dogs (or myself) to the yard. Last winter was not the coldest (I am in south-western Ontario) but it clearly was not a problem. I only wish the touchpad was backlit after dark (or after you touch it). Otherwise, it is worth every penny because I no longer have to carry my keys when take the dogs for a walk.I did not install it myself, I gave to my neighbour is a very skilled master of all trades and it took almost an hour and he had to make some adjustments.

Affordable keyless entry
Really like that u can still get in even if the battery dies. Just need another 9V. Nice light up system for in the dark. Easy to install and a nice modern look

Good product
Works well. Only complaint is that the light at the top is small and doesn't adequately light up the whole keypad. The older model had backlit buttons and was easier to see at night.

No more lost keys!
Someone loves losing keys. So I got rid of them all together. Problem solved.... well one of them at least. This thing works like a dream. Never going back to keys.
