Does the job!
Let me start off by saying that this idea of a cherry pitter is near life-changing. This is a must have for parents with small children as the peace of mind and ease of eating is wonderful. Now for the pros and cons: this is my second purchase of this model from amazon. (Shown on bottom) and both are the same but different. The plunger is easy to operator and the ram on the 2nd one I purchased seems to extend higher, making the removal of the pitted cherry easier. Sometimes the pits are larger than the ejection hole but 9/10 are not. The potter with the green plunger is one I picked up from target on clear ends for 2.99!! It's a little harder to press and wears your fingers out a bit quicker. When putting multiple bags of cherries, it turns into a big deal!!! When the amazon pitters, you are able to break them down into 3 parts, making cleaning easy! The target model doesn't break down, as far as I know. My family eats, bakes and drinks products made from cherries and eats gluttoniously on the occasion when cherries are on sale!! Pick one up and you will be impressed.

Doesn't always work ...
This item doesn't work properly. The space to put the cherry is a bit too wide and flat so even the larger cherries roll around so it takes more effort to center the cherry properly. I was eager to try this out with my kids but for both of us, it took several tries for the seed to fall out effectively. Not sure if it's because the metal piece which goes through the pit the cherry isn't long enough but the success rate was about 65-70% for us. I do have to admit that when it does work, there is almost no waste. The product didn't specify whether it was dishwasher safe either. I requested the return of this item the same day I received the product and ordered a different kind.

Doing Olives is pesky
Well, perhaps this is better with cherries than olives. you have to carefully line up the olive from top to bottom to make a nice looking pitted olive. Don't expect to get a nice even hole like commercially pitted ones however. if you are doing just a few this is okay but i can't imagine doing a lot.

This product has literally changed my life!
The may be the best thing I've ever bought on Amazon, and I buy A LOT of things on Amazon!Last year made a cherry cobbler without a cherry pitter. It took me hours to pit the cherrys, and it was a HUGE mess! I swore I'd never do it again. Then I saw cherries at the 99 cent store. My husband loves them and it was just too good a deal to pass up.So I decided to buy this pitter, and thank god! It made quick work of the cherries!

Good for the price
Good for the price. We aren't using it a ton. Weonly use it so my 2 year old can eat cherries easier. If i was using it a lot i think iwould find it frustrating because it tends to stick. But overall we like it.

I had to pit 4 lbs of cherries and although I felt silly buying a one-use tool, this thing saved my sanity. My only complaint is that the plunger sticks every once in a while.

It's OK, probably wouldn't but it again.
It's pretty OK for quality, easy to clean. It works better with bigger cherries. You have to position the cherry just right to get the pit out in one go. I've had better cherry punchers. Haven't tried it with olives yet.

Easy to use.
I loved this so much I bought another one as a housewarming gift for a friend. Cherry season was great this year. A couple of years ago I broke off a tooth eating a cherry. NO MORE! I've also started buying olives with pits from the olive bar at my neighborhood grocery. Always had a fear of ruining a crown. NO MORE! It's also remarkably sturdy and washes easily.
