The product description doesn't really tell you the size. Obviously the eraser isn't going to be 5 inches (that would be ridiculous). I think they measured the cardboard packet it's attached to? The eraser I received is tiny at about 1.25 inches on the long side, and 3/4 inch on the short side, but by Sanford's definition that probably is a medium. Their "large" eraser seems to be 1.6 x 1.1 x 0.2 inches. I can't imagine the small eraser; it must be the size of a dot.I remember getting a medium a long time ago and it was bigger, so I think the company has shrunk the sizes to cut costs. It does its job as an eraser, just know what you are getting and paying for. I'd say one kneaded eraser of this size isn't going to last for very long (even though I've heard you can actually rinse them and keep using them). Better to buy them in bulk.UPDATE:Figured out that all this confusion was due to them changing the sizes. Instead of "small, medium, large" it's now "medium, large, extra large". So in order to get the same size as a medium before, you now have to buy a large.Found an art site that sold all three sizes of eraser, which are as follows.MEDIUM (formerly small): 1-1/4" × 3/4" × 1/4"LARGE (formerly medium): 1-3/4" × 1-1/4" × 1/4"EXTRA LARGE (formerly large): 2-1/8" × 2-1/8" × 3/8"

As other one and two star reviewers have said, the pictures and description are misleading. The one I received was the tiniest. I wish I had read the reviews before buying this one. As others recommended, get it at your local store. You can see what you are buying and it will be cheaper.

I am a "beginner" and bought this to use for shading Zentangle drawings. It was difficult for me to believe that erasers could be that much different... It is great! Smaller than expected, but really does the job for both shading, and completely erasing all pencil marks. Highly recommend.

Can't live without kneaded eraser. BUT one year ago I'd never heard of them Now with drawing classes I've learned these little babies are perfect for working on all those drawings and erasing's we have to do.

The picture showed set of 3 but I only received one and it is the smallest in the picture. Not worth the cost to return - buyer beware.
