Great camera & really good upgrade on the 2MP version
The media could not be loaded. This camera, the IG90, is the upgraded version of the 2MP (1080p) camera, model IG82. I have 4 IG82s which I bought because they are high quality and fairly priced for the specifications and was hoping that the upgraded IG90 would offer the same, so was keen to check out the differences. The reviews on Amazon for the IG82 are very good, so they are worth reading for the baseline. After using the IG90 for a month now, I am really pleased with it, it’s a really good upgrade and have bought an additional unit. The attached video shows a few sequences so you can check it out for yourself.New FeaturesThe capabilities of this upgraded version are impressive - it's 5MP resolution, so you get an image that is more detailed, more saturated (better colours) and larger. If you google 1080p vs 5mp security camera you will see reviews that explain the differences in more detail. In the case of the IG90, the upgrade is exactly what you would hope to see - it’s a high quality image. The image area is also larger so if you have the camera positioned so it’s pointing directly down you will capture a noticeably large field of vision than with a 2MP camera. The IG90 also has humanoid – ie human shape – detection which is really good and allows alerts to be sent whenever it detects a human in areas of the image that you can customise. So you can ignore a busy pavement outside your house, but if someone steps off it to head towards your place you receive an alert.Other featuresWhilst the camera is versatile and can be customised in all kinds of way it can also be used straight out of the box, after changing the default password obviously. The default setting options are fine and include H265 video compression which makes saving the data to SD card or HDD size-efficient. 1h of high resolution H265 footage takes roughly 2GB of memory card or disk space at 15 FPS (the default option) – there are plenty of online calculators that can help you run the numbers - so a 128GB card, which the cameras take and costs around £20, will store 128 hours or so of video. If you set the camera to record only when it’s triggered it will give you weeks of footage. I record to my PC via a WiFi connection and to the camera as a back up, just in case WiFi fails. The infra red imaging is good for night shots – see the attached video sequence. The camera works seamlessly with the 3rd party software I use. To be clear, you don’t need additional software to use it – you can use your mobile via the CamHiPro app, which is easy to use, connect to it directly on your PC via the camera’s inbuilt user interface or use 3rd party software. I do all 3. In fact, the easiest way to get started and connect to the network is via the CamHiPro app which is simple to use – just be prepared for some curious translations from Chinese eg “determine” means “ok”!Network connectionThe housing for the IG90 is identical to the IG82 so swapping in the new unit is a breeze if you are upgrading. The easy way to set up the camera before wall mounting is to connect it to your router/network with the supplied CAT5 cable, download the CamHiPro app to your mobile and press the “+” button to detect and add the new camera. At this point, it’s best to do 2 things (1) select and connect to the wifi network you are planning to use when you set it up outside – if you do it now, the camera will auto-reconnect to it when you set it up outside (test the connection by disconnecting the CAT5 cable) (2) if you are so inclined, get the camera’s ip address from the app, connect to it via your pc and change the settings to what works for you.Troubleshooting Wifi connectionsThe signal gain on the cameras’ antennae is really good – I have been running them for weeks without dropping the connection for more than a few seconds from time to time – but getting a clean, strong WiFi connection is critical and what seems strong inside will be weaker outside. For troubleshooting, the easiest thing is to buy a long cat5 cable – you can get 50m brand new on a well known auction site delivered for under a tenner – which will allow you to connect direct to the camera and check out the wifi connection around the unit without resetting it or indeed taking it off the wall. Be ready for the wifi signal to be strong at some times of day and weaker at others. I already had an inexpensive wifi network extender which I repositioned and have had no problems.SupportAs far as support is concerned, there have been no problems with this unit – previously, I had a problem with one of the previous cameras, the support team were very helpful and when we realised it wasn’t functioning properly they replaced it. No hassle.

First class low cost indoor home security camera
The first thing I wish to state for those not wishing to read through my entire review, is that this is my third ieGeek camera, and I am entirely happy with this device. I believe it to be super quality and excellent value for money, and offers a full feature functionality set that is quite hard to better at the price, and has certainly lived up to the high standard I have come to expect from my two existing ieGeek cameras. If you are looking for a low cost, full featured, high quality internal or external security camera, I would without a doubt, certainly recommend ieGeek. So, I wanted a third ieGeek camera, mainly for internal monitoring of my property. This model is quite simply, perfect. Setting up was a breeze with the YI IoT app, which allowed a very fast set up time, and I was able to view the image on my camera within 5 mins of opening the box.Picture quality is excellent, with full 1080 HD resolution available (you can select SD if preferable), which is pin sharp on my iPhone in both portrait and landscape orientation. You can name the camera, and this name is displayed on the screen if required, together with the date and time. The app offers a range of advanced features, all of which are extremely easy to use. One thing I particularly liked is the ability to move the camera viewpoint remotely using the virtual joystick in the app. Using it the camera can pan and tilt across significant angles left, right, up and down, so it is easy to adjust he camera from where you place it in its resting position to obtain the specific view angle you require. This allows the camera to be physically positioned almost anywhere, with full adjustment of the camera view from within the app. Response times for camera movement are also impressive - around 0.5s latency in movement over my home WiFi.I am also able to view the image using 4G when I am outside my home network, useful of course for when one is not home.Motion detection is excellent, and can be set to detect people (with Cloud service subscription), or other movement within the camera field of view as standard. In fact I had to turn down the motion detection sensitivity as the camera was detecting the small branches on the bushes outside my conservatory moving slightly in the breeze. Motion detection records short videos when motion is detected. There is also a voice function - referred to as ‘call mode’ - with this app, not something I would ever need to use, but has enormous potential for those who would require such functionality. Interestingly, the camera also features sound detection, which is really useful if using the camera to listen for a baby cry etc.All in all this is a first class internal security camera that I am very happy with, and would certainly recommend to anyone considering purchasing a home security camera.
