Rain Chain Stake Ground Anchor

Glad I got the stake when I bought my new rain chain. I purchased a fairly light weight chain that just whips in the wind, even when attached to the stake. However, the bottom end of the chain stays in one place. I suspect other chains would be subject to the same problem with alot of wind. The ground anchor is somewhat less effective in loose or very wet soil, as the wind-whipped chain tends to pull on it. But the chain would be useless without the anchor, in my case.

Don't bother with the add-on ground stake-- it has two major issues that make it pretty unusable-- a) it is spiraled the wrong way (spent several minutes trying to figure out why I couldn't get it to drill into the ground-- then I realized I was spinning it clockwise-- it has to be spun anti-clockwise to go in, clockwise to come out), and b) it is softer aluminum than soda cans, completely malleable, and just bends and smashes out of shape with the least amount of pressure at all.

It has been in the ground anchoring our rain chain for 2 plus years.The deer, squirrels and other critters we share our lawn with, haven't dislodged it.

This stake was super pricey and too long to go into the ground for holding my rain chain in place. Once you try to put it into the ground, it becomes used, so can't be returned. I am sorry I purchased this item.
