Skin N Bone / Savage Return

The sound is more rock than blues for me on these albums. I saw & interviewed Kim Simmonds in the late 1970's. The album is OK, but not one of my favorites, yet, anyway. God rest singer Chris Youlden, Dave Peverett...

Kim Simmons line-up changed with the times. Savage Return has some especially good songs: "I'm Alright Now" and "The First Night". I like the steady rocking of the album, some harder, some softer, but all good. Skin 'n' Bone was okay, but I would have bought the CD for Savage Return alone.

Savage Return is probably the better of the 2 albums, but it WILL take time to grow on you if you're only used to the older recordings, I.E. Street Corner Talking, Hellbound Train, Looking In, etc. etc.Skin N' Bone is more in the bluesy vein of those mentioned above and is still quite good, but I just like Savage Return a bit more overall.Great stuff, if you don;t have these two in your Savoy Brown collection get them, and if you're wondering about the band, I recommend Street Corner Talking as a great starter point.

There are many of these 2 discs for 1 from Savoy Brown. I like the band a lot, yet only had their 2 cd greatest hits. When I saw these on Amazon, I picked up all that were available. It is a great way to get their discography. The sound on all are fine, & I highly recommend all of them if you are a Savoy Brown fan. This is also a good place to start your collection if you are upgrading old Lp's. I picked up 7 sets. Each set has a small booklet with it.

5 Stars for Skin n Bone -1000 Stars for Savage Return (Horrible Unlistenable Vocals). I bought this only for Skin n' Bones Remastered sound on this BGO release which is fantastic. The original Skin n Bone (only) CD had lousy low volume audio. As I said this CD has great sound and I love the Skin n Bone album as it has great songs and performances and no bad tracks. As to Savage Return, when it original was released in the late 70's early 80's as a vinyl record (there were no CDs then) I thought there was a mistake in the recording as the lead vocals were as bad as I 've ever heard and literally got me sick hearing them. The funny thing is, the Scottish lead singer (also bassist) normally has a very good voice. Apparently he was told to sing American for this album, and instead sounds like a Mongolian Idiot from Mars. Hearing this on CD did not change his vocals on Skin 'n Bones. So if you're buying this for SKin n Bone 5 Stars ande buy it as their is no single Skin n Bone CD only that sounds this good.

Very pleased with this CD and received it in time for Christmas as this was a gift.

This CD is exquisite in every way. The boys from battersea is doing excellent music . The sound quality on this CD is very good. If you like Savoy Brown,go and get it.

Despite CD being Re- Mastered sound Quality very poor. Also did not like songs or singing voice. More Rock than Blues. Do not Buy as waste of Money.

Great remastering. Skin N Bone is a very good album. Savage Return has some annoying vocals but great Kim playing.

Not sure, bought as an Xmas gift , no feedback as of yet! I am a Savoy Brown fan though, but have not heard these 2 albums.
