Key Cutter Stainless Steel Cutting Pliers for Vehicles Car Keys

This is an awesome tool. I was a locksmith for 11 years, so I am speaking from experience. This tool will take a little practice. I was able to look up the depth and space information for the brand of lock I was working on. I knew what cuts of the key I was making so I was able to use my caliper to measure and mark on the key blank I was going to cut. I clipped out a key that worked. I did take a few attempts but it worked perfectly fine for my needs. There are plenty of videos online if you need a demonstration.

Needed to copy a key during early days of pandemic before I was brave enough to go in stores and this did the trick. Easy to use. Buy a couple extra key blanks because it might take a try or two but worked very easily and

Gradients on the cutter are in .5 and .6mm, but attempting to use a half measure, like a shallow .25mm cut on the edge of a key, for me, resulted in it glancing off after the top .25 of the key blank and then refusing to cut any more. Any further attempts now see it follow the sloping line of the first cut it made and not finish it off.If this is the case, then how are further tiny cuts to make fine adjustments to be made without the same thing happening?It's left the mark to continue the job with a file, but that isn't the point of this tool now is it?Deeper cuts were fine and seemed nice and square.It is possible my cutter wasn't aligned properly, but I'm not sure about this.. Without a way to align to the cutter, or move in small increments, or clamp, it seems a little too sketchy and rough. The glancing off from tiny cuts really renders this tool useless to me.Perhaps it works better on house keys with a softer metal?
